Sequencer 14 just means the joint Cubase/Nuendo development.
Sort of like āCubendoā
I get the impression that some here donāt think Nuendo 13 is good enough. Iām kidding, of course. Updates are like Christmas (or some other sectarian holiday that you enjoy), so I get it.
I bought Nuendo from a Cubase upgrade sale. As long as Nuendo gets what Cubase does, Iāll only be upgrading Nuendo from now on. I like the Steinberg side of the aisle these days.
Thank you for letting us know the approximate timeline! You guys did a great job on Cubase 14, I just upgraded and tested the new features. Love it so far. Some wonderful creative tools, workflow tools, and of course the new score editor! YAY! One of the best updates in years! Keep up the great work!
Looking forward to Nuendo 14!
And remember, for your Cubase/Nuendo 15 plans, we still need great click-and-drag ripple editing!
Cheers to the whole Steinberg team!
So no improvement of any kind for Expression Maps in Cubase 14? I didnāt see anything mentioned.
I installed the Cubase 14 trial last night which hopefully will keep me going for 60 days until Nuendo 14. If it is longer into 2025 until the Nuendo release maybe Steinberg could double the trial period.
I didnāt realise when I crossgraded from Cubase 11 to Nuendo that I might have to wait longer for each release. Mind you the 2023 release was nicely harmonised with Cubase 13.
Also Iām a bit sad my particular crossgrade point didnāt allow me to access the previous version of Cubase which I think now happens for some Nuendo crossgrade users.
Best to all
According to C14 users, no. Which is dissappointing. Hoping some improvements will come with the N14 upgrade.
Weāve been told in vi-control forum that they will soon focus efforts on a big EM revamp. but up til now priororities have been elsewhere. Speculation is it will take until v15. So a long way off.
Steinberg its great that you are finally going to address expression maps but you could just add ONE thing now:
per articulation -delay parameter
and not do anything else until revamped and it would make MANY composers happy. Even if it is using the old code, just to tie us over. There are many who wont upgrade until this is at least done.
Thatās usually the case., 13 was surprising.
Plus one (or more than one if thatās permitted) on ripple editing. I use this all the time in WaveLab and would love to have the ability to do so in Nuendo.
Interested to know how you moved all your preferences over from Nuendo , awhile ago I switched from C 13 to N13 , as I remember after a lot of experimenting, I ended up dumping all of the c13 pref folder into the N14 pref folder and it worked great . I now find myself thinking Im gonna go back to Cubase for a while as well .
there is also Metagrid and some other apps to switch back
We know that Nuendo is the big brother of Cubase But unfortunately the versions are not released at the same time. I think the updates should be simultaneous. Also Nuendo youtube and social media channels are quite weak. We have to follow Cubase users to get information. This is a bit sad for us. I wonder if Steinberg doesnāt like Nuendo as much as we do? :((( On the other hand, the ipad controller is paid and I have to use it for free with an avid controller. I think you should make the ipad controller free like you integrated Dorico into Cubase for free. This way we can create macro buttons with pleasure and work more integrated with the program. By the way, as an old PT user, Iām sorry that I discovered you late Nuendo, forgive me. I was unfair to you :)))
We tried to fill in the missing part (Nuendo specific ones) but we do need more supportā¦and let new users inform us as to what post related specific workflows they would like us to coverā¦
Not yet. But I think Steinberg has just spent a mind-boggling amount of effort replacing the old score editor with this new one based on Dorico, and keep in mind Steinberg is working with Microsoft on MIDI 2.0-related issues too, so I think lots of goodies will be coming in that area in Cubase 15 and 16.
The replacement of the score editor has been a long time coming, and Steinbergās deep investment in Dorico is paying off for Cubase customers now. With this release, I think Steinberg is showing itself to be outstanding long-term planners, and they have built the framework over many years for great features ahead. Big kudos to Steinberg for what they have done.
We just have to remind them and then keep reminding them.
This release shows they have been listening and paying attention to important workflow requests. The complete revamping of the clip/event volume envelopes is exactly what I was hoping for (THANK YOU STEINBERG), and it is a huge feature that must have taken a lot of work. When you factor in the continued improvements to things like the range selection tool as well, itās clear they have been laying the foundation for more related workflow improvements in the future.
My guess is true multi-track click-and-drag ripple editing will be coming in the next couple of years. Hopefully Cubase/Nuendo 15. If you look at the improved range editing over multiple tracks, itās like the underlying framework for great ripple editing is being developed. This release makes me more optimistic than ever about Steinbergās plans. C14 is a big step in the right direction IMO.
This! I would love to see more tutorials for Nuendo or at least a clear information on Cubase Tutorials if they also apply to Nuendo (even like a tag)
Cubase 13 was released on 11/2/2023 and Nuendo 13 was release shortly after on 11/15/2023. I would reasonably expect the same timeline if they want to stay on the same yearly update schedule so maybe around 11/20 would be my guess.
Post Production is all about workflows.
On the other hand Cubase 14 explodes and exceeds many sound design capabilities of Nuendo. 13
Think of it this way, Nuendo is 90 percent Cubase plus 10 percent PP. But this 10 percent is a very specialised segment and requires physical exposure to Film, Radio and Game Industry.
So tutorials for Nuendo has to be related to be relevant Especially when it comes down to data interoperability extensionsā¦
Thatās why you donāt have many,
We appear to be back to this again after a good period of close releases between Cubase. Nuendo users pay more and but yet we have to wait.
It seems to me that if it is faster to complete a new Cubase version - because it has less features - then having them wait for their version until Nuendo is also ready means that they are waiting only to make us feel better. Right?
In addition to that the reality is also that if they get Cubase 14 now Iām sure some bugs that they run into will be fixed in time for Nuendo 14, and that is a good thing.
What would you like to see in a series of tutorials?
For starters I would love to see expanded tutorials for all the videos on their YT channels marked as New features in Nuendo 13. Smth like āCubase Secrets with Domā series would be great and last but not least a monthly, longer fifestream on PP would be awesome to see how Nuendo is being used in real life or how it addresses certain challanges.
P.S. Cubase has 1.2K videos on their channel while Nuendo 173, most of them more than 1 year oldā¦
