Hi there, I have a Keylab Essential 49 keyboard which works almost perfectly. However, when I try to use the big central wheel to move my cursor around, nothing happens. It works just fine in Logic, but not Cubase 14 Pro. I’ve played around with the MIDI port set up, no luck, I’ve tried to bind it in the Remote Mapping Assistant, and I don’t see an obvious setting I should bind it to. When I Map Select the DAW button on my Keylab, Cubase will register that I am turning the wheel, but the cursor will still not move.
Currently my MIDI Port Setup is Keylab Essential DAW and MIDI are both visible, active, and "In All MIDI”. I have also updated my Keylab to the newest update 1.1.10.
Everything else works, pitch bend, mod wheel, play, record, stop, rewind, forward buttons all okay. Since Cubase registers my large, central wheel does that mean its just not bound correctly? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
do you have the Arturia MIDI Control Center installed? I noticed Arturia is easy to control with that on my computer. I do not have the same controller but I guess it is the same theory for them all.
Set the controller to “DAW Mode: Cubase” inside MCC, or make sure it is in that mode. Also you have to use this MCC software to read/set the correct midi addresses. especially with a multifunction button etc in midiremote you need to be exact to send/receive the correct messages to your device.
on my arturia controller I had to find the correct midi address and make sure Cubase did read the same (and then I found that info in the MCC software). It was a bit tricky to do, but once I figured it out midi remote is king.
if not I think arturia can run in Mackie mode with just about no config, just send the info from MCC to your controller
On my MCC, for my DAW mode, I only have Mackie Control or HUI options. If I set my keyboard to Mackie, create a Mackie Control device with the MIDI Input set to Keylab Essential DAW In, then disable to Keylab Essential 49 Script, the large center wheel will work! However, my DAW Command center Buttons (Save, Undo, Metronome, Loop) aren’t working. Do I need to bind those manually or is it just the trade off running the Keylab without a script?
Okay, I figured it out! I went in and made a new MIDI Remote and just rebound everything manually. Encoder wheel works and all my transport dials work. Thanks for your help!
