Cubase 14 – Multi track recording (Sample offsets) between Mics and Modeler tracks

Hi community,

I have a little problem with different delays (sample offsets) between several tracks / equipment at multi track recording.
For my scenario please don’t judge me what I’m doing. This started as a Mic position test to find my recording setup , what developed then a bit excessive
But I think that could also be a problem at a band multi track recording. So that could be a real scenario…

As it might get long here, I found already a solution via delays on my mixer (Yamaha 01v96v2) including alignment (shifting) of tracks via Project Logic Editor.
That needs manual trigger to execute, what can have an error if I forget to execute.
I wonder if Cubase 14 has an individual Track “Record Shift" instead of the global setting.
As well I was also not able to find something at my audio-interface (RME DIGIFACE).
Is there a way to move tracks/audio automatically (individual), for xxx samples, after recording/stop was triggered?
If not, that would be a nice feature for future releases.

Maybe at the Track

So what’s going on…
I record a guitar via DI box into a Helix-Rack. DI-Signal and Helix Out goes to Mixer.
Parallel, I send the Pre-Amp Signal from Helix to a external Amp+Speaker Cabinet, what are recorded via mics.
Parallel I send from Helix a Signal to a IR-200 to emulate me room and side from cabinet.
Here a Schema

I record all track individual as well blend mics via Mixer Busses.
From Mixer via ADAT (RME Digiface) to DAW.
As a result of that I have different delays between the tracks in Cubase, the global Record Shift can’t help here.

I’m able to apply delay to all my inputs & outputs, individual, at the mixer, so I figured out a way how to get this (best possible) aligned during recording.

But, there is always a but…

The Mixer BUS created an additional offset, no matter what.

So I added delays on mixer to get all aligned in cubase, with exception of the BUS records. A delay on an Input, adds input delay +8 Samples, on any Bus at Mixer.

So I end up here with all Inputs aligned, and bus tracks +8 Samples.

Now the Project Logic Editor gets used to move the BUS Tracks 8 samples forward and afterwards to move all selected tracks 218 forward.
Here is a discrepancy I found between manual moving (-256 Samples) and Project Logic Edito r –218 Samples. Why, no idea…

Finally, the tracks aligned via Project Logic Editor –218 Samples.

So here I go that route that all is delayed recorded but aligned in Cubase, move the Busses and then move all.

I know, I could now improve that with simplifying the process.
Use delay with record shift, and just move the two busses.
In that matter if there is no other option, I would think of a proper final method so I have not to considered too many things, like buffer size, mixer delay, etc.

I use to move each tracks audio independently in msecs via the inspector, just below the panning.

If you want to convert samples to msecs use:
1000/(s.rate/samples)=msecs

Hi, thx for that advise.

I just double checked that feature at notebook, but it just a offset for playback.
It can cover for a scenario where several inputs have different offsets at recording.

In my case the recorded tracks will still have the offset between the tracks.

But thanks!
