Cubase 14 Pro 14.0.10 De-recognizes DAC

Yes - Pro 14 recognized my DAC for a few days, then “decided” not to recognize it today, even after reinstalling (not a complete reinstall) and rebooting and testing on a new empty project. Cubase 13 and Dorico continued to recognize that same DAC and have always done so. I changed DACs and now 14 acknowledges that alternate DAC.

I know DAC is the new hype word for some people but ultimately a DAC is just a microchip. So kindly let us us know which product you are using as your audio interface and does it comes with its own ASIO driver?

A DAC is like one-half of an audio interface. “DAC” stands for “digital to audio converter.” There are actually two of my DACs that have initially worked and then been de-recognized: a Schiit Modius and a Topping EX5. Currently the replacement is actually an 8 year-old audio interface, the RME ADI-2 Pro. It too may soon be rejected.

I’m on Mac OS Sonoma 14.7 so no ASIO driver needed.

Aha ! OK… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

What I don’t get, though, is that both are indeed what could be called DACs as there are no analog audio inputs on each of them, and the ADI-2 pro is actually a full audio interface (AD/DA), so… Beside this, I don’t really get the ‘de-recognize’ thing.

I guess that either Johnny or others will be able to answer. I can’t, as I’m not used to deal with audio devices in a MacOS based setup, sorry…

Thank you, that is awesome.

Have you created an aggregate device for those interfaces in macOS?
Can you post screenshots from your Audio & MIDI Setup?
And a screenshot from Cubase, menu Studio → Studio Setup → Audio System and then pop up the menu where you select the ASIO Device?

Thanks!

Since I’m on Mac OS I don’t use ASIO.

The issue is not with my DAC or my setup - the issue is with 14.0.10. This issue never occurred with 13. It’s peculiar though since 14.0.10 started off working perfectly with both DACs then after a couple or a few days stopped working, even when using the same .cpr file throughout.

This could be a stability issue with Sonoma so I will test out 14.0.10 on my silicon Mac soon and get back if any issues with that.

Thanks for your help!
