cubase 14 pro scale is assistant not working on midi events in the midi editor of a vst instrument track.
I’ve been trying all day, read the manual section on this.
Am i missing something?
Hi,
What exactly is not working? Could you describe the steps you do, your expected result and actual result?
Hi, thanks for your reply
I ran through it a few times last night and got some positive results, here’s what’s happening.
The tracks are instrument tracks using Iconica string tracks.
I laid out my chords tracks, and opened the scale assistant in the editor on just one of the tracks.
I chose the correct chords in the scale assistant, checked “chords” only.
If I hit Quantize I can see shifts in the notes.
My problem is there’s really no color coding showing the questionable notes.
After activating scale assistant all the notes stay the color they were before that in the editor.
Seeing the notes in question would be a huge time saver and that was the whole purpose.
Hi,
It depends, what kind of color-coding do you use in the Key Editor. You can set the Event Colors to the Scale/Chords option. Then you will get this kind of color-coding:
Funny, I did that this afternoon struggling through.
The manual is not jiving with my thinking…ever. from '95 to 2005 I could deal with it. But now, it’s a real struggle, no flow at all and it seems to be all over the place.
I have not seen that “choosing color” snap you sent so far in my journey but…
I did get there.
At least it will be in my template for next time.
I’ll try to find what you posted in my system.
Just a thought, maybe everything we need could be a bit much. I know Steinberg listens and adjusts. I appreciate that. Sometimes I think (as it always has been) the authors are not “in a mix” when they write this stuff.
Thank you for your help!
Hi,
In the Key Editor, click on the Event Colors > Scale/Chords option. This is how to enable the setting. Then click on the Event Colour again and select Setup. The dialog I mentioned above, appears.
