Cubase 14 Pro throwing up blank dialogue windows when loading a project

Hello.

I have just built a new Computer with the following specs:

  • Windows 11,
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d
  • RAM: 32Gb
  • GPU: AMD Radeon 9070xt
I have copied my Cubase Projects folder over from my laptop.
There are some files it can’t find and brings up a dialogue to Resolve
Missing Files. Unfortunately, the dialogue is blank and cannot be interacted with:

Then, sometimes Cubase crashes while sending noise to audio outputs, and starting it again results in the following dialogue:

The Dumpfjle referred to is here:
Cubase 14.0.20 64bit2025.4.11 9.19.21.369.dmp (1.1 MB)

I thought maybe this was a Cubase 14 issue, so I downloaded Cubase 13 Pro, but it does exactly the same thing.

If I click to ignore the dialogue, I get a blank project window, like this:

Any ideas as to what to do?

Hello and welcome,
the crash, as shown by your Screenshot (and the dump) happens in the Zenology.vst3, so it is definitely a bug there.
No idea about the blank dialog. Is it just the Missing files dialog that is blank? Do other projects that have no missing files load and work without problems?

Hello,

Thanks for responding - It is inconsistent. Just tried it with a different project where samples were in the wrong place, and on the first attempt, I experienced the same issue with blankl windows. On second attempt, it worked and allowed me to locate the samples and ran without issue.

Can you maybe narrow it down to that Zenology plugin, do all the projects you have problems with contain this plugin?
I wonder whether it might be related to something graphics card, maybe OpenGL or so. Have you tried a newer (or maybe older) graphics card driver? Or, just for a test, only use the built int graphics device of the CPU?
i.e, I had for some severe problems (not only with Cubase) with the internal graphics , where some plugins would crash after 10 seconds of using them, and other weird stuff. I then bought a cheap Nvidia card, and since then, no problems whatsoever…

Thanks for the suggestion - I’ll try using the built in graphics to see if that helps. All the projects load without issue on my laptop - which does feature an NVIDIA Rtx4070 - so it is likely driver related. Not sure if older drivers exist for my GPU - it’s an RX 9070XT that’s only been out for just over a month
