Cubase 14 Pro – Various Issues vs. Cubase 12

OS: Windows 10

LOAD SPLASH SCREEN

I forgot how to not have any of this show up on launching Cubase, I use desktop project shortcuts to open them, not this interface.

Where/how does one do this in C-14?

PREFERENCES
Color Schemes

Most preferences such as Key Commands got transferred from C-12 to C-14. But not color schemes: I managed to manually match them through Preferences, but I’m concerned that maybe other Preferences may not have been transferred.

I copied and pasted the Presets
from:

\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 12_64\Presets\Configurations

to:

\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 14_64\Presets\Configurations

Correct locations?

Since I’m still using the C-14 trial, I have saved all preferences with a different name than the ones I have in C-12 so I don’t mess up those of C-12.

RECENT PROJECTS
Old List

Really old list of projects: from March 20 2024 – it’s November 9th. Yes, I can keep loading and saving more recent projects to re-populate the list, but I don’t understand why this happened, or how to fix it - if possible.

Not crucial, just a nuisance.

PROJECT WINDOW
Track Colors

C-12 Project Window

C-14 Project Window

Can’t change track color using right arrow at the top of the Inspector to get to color palette as one can in C-12.

MIXCONSOLE
Racks View Option

C-12 MixConsole

C-14 MixConsole

Can’t find Racks view option. Unlike C-12, where there are 3 settings cogs icons to set what should be viewed, C-14 only has one. How to make Racks visible?

PERFORMANCE METER
High Load for No Apparent Reason

Since I have other ways to monitor my OS’s CPU and DRAM, I don’t use this meter in Cubase much at all.

But it’s default in the MixConsole has shown about a 75-80% white line/load and even an occasional red peak on the righ when I haven’t even played or mixed anything in the project that I loaded up just to make the screenshots.

I don’t want to disable ASIO Guard or mess with how Cubase performs because I don’t have system performance issue – I have a relatively decent system (Ryzen 9 5950X with 64 Gb DRAM).

Keep ignoring the meter or ?

SOME VST3 NOT RECOGNIZED

On loading a copy of my current .cpr project to test C-14, there was the warning that a small handful of VST fx could not be “found”.

I nuked all my VST2 a while back when I upgraded from v.11 to v.12, but maybe I missed a couple. However…

The not-recognized fx are VST3.x.x

So how can I make C-14 let them work as C-12 does?

You can hide the news part of hub but not the project list.

There’s profile manager so you don’t have to be manually copying preference files…save on 12, load in 14.

Pancake is not available as vst3 so you are mistaken that these are all vst3…maybe try enabling vst2 support and see what turns up. You don’t have to leave it enabled…and of course there’s the blacklist if they are vst3 and still not showing.

I don’t have that list show up in C-12 either - I nuked it not long after I got v.12, so there should be a way to not have it show up. Whatever the case, where does one change it?

If I launch C-12, the window is empty until I choose a project in Recent Projects; or what I usually do - use shortcut of current project/s on my desktop to launch Cubase so I go directly to the project.

Regarding the mixing console - search for the little gear icon at the top - far right. (Not the slightly bigger one a little to the left of it.)

Most of the issues here were discussed in the various version 13 topics. As for the hub - Cubase windowing has been re-written from the ground up. The hub, as far as I can tell, is always there.

I searched this forum for the Hub issue, and it was changed in v.13 - unlike v.12, one can’t hide it. I have no use for it and I’m not alone. I wish they would not force it on us. I’ve been using Cubase since SX1.

I’m still having problems with v.14 not using some Preferences such as some custom key commands in v.12, but I’ll just have to fish out the relevant files in v.12’s relevant folders and copy them into v.14’s folders.

As to track coloring, I figured it out - one can’t do it in Inspector, but it works with the Color menu.

No replies necessary.

Oh, if only it were that easy!

As it happens, one can - ALT+Click the header. Why not just the old single click is beyond my understanding.
