It does not appear that the “Drumset (Basic)” or “Drumset (Full)” instrument types are working in the new score editor. I created an instrument track with Groove Agent loaded (one of the acoustic agent kits). I draw a midi region, and open the score editor. I go into “change instrument type for active track” and select “Drumset (Basic)”. I am then unable to enter any notes on the staff in the score editor. If I create a midi region by dragging a Groove Agent 5 pattern pad into the track lane, when i open score editor it will not display with the “Drumset (Basic)” instrument type selected.
Same thing if i create an instrument track with Halion Sonic and GM Drumkit loaded. I still cannot enter any notes if I select “Drumset (Basic)” as the instrument type in the score editor.
Is this a known limatation? I work with drum notation using “Drumset (Basic)” and Halion 5 all the time in Dorico.
Ah, I just discovered it works if i load a drum map (just the GM Drum map) into the track. In Dorico I guess it’s just automatically set up with a drum map that works with Groove Agent 5 SE.
I think I will grow to love this score editor, but coming from Dorico I’ve found some things jarring… I guess i expected it to feel just like Dorico, which it’s not intended to be.
Hi Phil, glad yougot this working. Indeed, a drum map map is required. Cubase doesn’t currently set one automatically, and we’ll continue to think about how we can improve that process in a future version.
