Cubase 14 Score Editor - Glue & Split Tool Bugs?

  1. The split and glue tools are not doing what they have done for decades. The split tool, when clicked on a given bar line, would split the remainder of the current staff onto the next score line. The glue tool, when clicked on the last measure of a given line, would attach measures from the line below onto the selected line, no matter how crunched the resulting notation might be. But then we could manually drag bar lines to fix whatever crunching occurred. Please advise on how to get the glue and split tools to do what is expected of them and how to manually move bars.

Also, the mouse cursor for both these tools (and others) appears as a plus sign (+) on the score page, rather than appearing as the tool they represent. Why? That seems like a bug.

  1. These tools and others are not showing up in a drop-down menu next to the mouse cursor when right-clicking the mouse, requiring one to move the mouse up (and one’s arm) to the tool bar to select them. Is this functionality lost in CB14? Or is a preference file, from a prior version of Cubase, that needs to be imported into CB14 so that the mouse functions as it did back in versions 12 and prior… and if so how do I export and import that preference file? Thanks

The split and glue tools both affect notes now. While we may well refine the behaviour and widen use cases to other events, there aren’t currently plans to make those tools affect spacing or systems breaks. We’ll also look at improving the mouse cursor behaviour as well as fix the context menu.

There are various ways to influence to spacing and how systems are laid out in “Layout Settings”. Take a look in the Staves and Systems section, as well as in Note Spacing, Vertical Spacing. If you don’t find settings that match your requirements, you can create manual system breaks by selecting a note or barline, then click the System Break menu item in the Score menu.

Why does “System Break” create a break across all the tracks, not just the selected one? Is there a way to manually force a bar to start from the next line on a selected track, because I just need to polish a few places in the notation?

Why is it so complicated to edit the number of bars per line? For my work it´s essential. So far I could not figure out how to to it with the new feature set.
Glue & Split tools were fine since the 90s…Guitar Pro Software is superior with a simple +/- at the right side of each line. Perfect solution!
Can we please have sth. like that?

PS: CTRL+Z does not work for the system break command. Why? And how do I get rid of it?
And how do I add a bar to a system? If there is such a command, it should be right above or below System Break. And if there´s no such command, again: why?

PPS: when using the system break command, bar lines of the shortened staff disappear…and sometimes reappear magically after some minutes!

PPPS: closing the score editor and reopening it, the bar lines are back - but the system breaks are gone…c´mon…

getting rid of the right-click tool box is such a unfortunate loss. Please bring it back as soon as possible!
