Hi there . Anyone know if we are able to use rhythmic figures (kicks, cues) either on top of the staff or below or inside the staff for the Chords. I want to write my score in Jazz Lead Sheet Format and Cubase 14 score editor seems to be missing a lot of functions to create that… Dorico was able to create those signs and figures but not Cubase I guess. Also is there a way to transform a particular staff or a region of measures to a Rhythmical Staff so that people who wanna play chords just with the kicks can sight read easily…
The Cubase version is a cut down version for sure, so there could be things unavailable. Have you checked the manual?

Yes brother I’ve checked every manual I can find no mention of slash bars or rhythmic figures
Hopefully the Steinberg team will take notice. Do you use Dorico? There should be seamless integration between Cubase and Dorico so you can move back and forth. Several people seem to want to do that.
Yes I have seen these functions in Dorico being able to be used. If you go back and forth between 2 programs why should I be using Cubase then. What is the purpose of having a score esitor and making a marketing point of Dorico integrated in to Cubase. It is clearly a lie… I am a long time Finale user (20+ years) and wanted finally switch to a more user friendly score editor which Dorico is. Finale improved its interface and functions a lot over the years so much that now you are able to use your favorite VST plugins for each track. And I love how easy it is to create arrangements in Cubase without worrying about notes and how it will look like so that’s why I will give last version of Dorico one more chance maybe VST integration and Daw functions are much better nowadays… But it is such a pity that Steinberg could not create an all in one package so that it would be more convenient for us pro users who make money out of this…
Well, sorry - it can only be a lie, if what you have suggested really has clearly been stated.
There is nowhere I’ve seen, where any of the SB marketing promotes the new Cubase 14 as now including a full blown Dorico Pro 5 as its new Score Editor. There just isn’t. Anywhere.
What the marketing does state is that Cubase 14 comes with a brand new score editor, built from the ground up and based on the Dorico engine. - which is a completely different proposition. There’s never any suggestion anywhere that you can expect a Dorico Pro edition included when you buy/update to C14.
Further, there’s a ton of stuff not included (as yet) in the new Score Editor that you’ll find in Dorico; improvements are happening, features being added and more is coming going forward. On the other hand, there will be many ‘big’ features that will never make it over to C14 from Dorico, for technical/architectural reasons. And is why, as you’ve eluded to, the two programs will need to continue to exist alongside each other.
Read the blog here. A lot of good detail and explanatory background:-
