I have installed Cubase Artist v14 on MS Windows 11. When I play or record in Cubase and I switch to another window not related to Cubase, eg Chrome, File Explorer, etc, the Cubase stop working until I switch back to the Cubase window. This was not the case with Cubase v12. I already checked all preferences but could not find a setting related to this behaviour.
Hello and welcome,
check if this setting is enabled in the Studio Setup:
your description very much points toward that setting.
Also take a look at these settings:
Windows Control Panel > Sound > Speakers > Properties > Advanced > “Allow Exclusive” - DISABLE
Also the same under Windows Control Panel > Sound > Recording > Properties > “Allow Exclusive” - DISABLE
If you have to reactivate “Allow Exclusive” Allow approx 10sec for driver(s) to load.
IN CUBASE Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System > “Release driver when app in background” > UNCHECKED
What exactly happens? Does Cubase continue playing the project, but you suddenly hear no sound? Then the tips from @fese and @reberclark are most likely the right ones. ![]()
Indeed this setting was checked. After unchecking the probem was solved. ![]()
Thanks for the solution.
