Hey everyone,
Here are a few things that would help improve the workflow:
Pattern Mode:
Patterns should be savable as presets, making it easier to open them across different projects.
When copying a Pattern Clip, it should be possible to modify the drum hits in the copy without creating a new version. (See Logic and Studio One.) Pattern clip copies should behave the same way as MIDI clips. There should at least be an option for this.
this would be a big workflow boost.
VST Instrument Shortcuts & Lower Zone Behavior:
If you set a shortcut to open/close VST instruments, it works well for most tracks, but when used on a Drum Track or Sampler Track, the lower zone stays open. This is inconsistent and should behave the same way across all track types.
Automation Lane Toggle:
Right now, you need two different shortcuts to open and close automation lanes, which feels unnecessary. A single toggle shortcut would be much more intuitive.
Mixer Scaling on MacBooks & External Displays:
The Mixer GUI is way too large on MacBooks, making it difficult to work efficiently.
Also, if you resize faders on an external monitor and then switch back to the MacBook screen, they dont auto-scale. Having them adjust dynamically would make switching between different setups much smoother.
Faster & Smoother Sample Preview in MediaBay:
When previewing one-shot samples in MediaBay by clicking with the mouse, theres always a slight delay before playback starts. However, when using the keyboard, playback is instant.
Also, 808 samples often produce a clicking noise when previewed. Ableton Live handles this much better, possibly by applying a small fade-out during preview. A similar fix in Cubase would improve the experience.
Sampler Track Settings Should Persist:
When loading an 808 into the Sampler Track and adjusting settings such as One Shot mode, Monophonic mode, or Gain, these settings should not reset when loading a different 808. Currently, all adjustments are lost, which is frustrating and slows down workflow.
Final Thoughts
Cubase is already one of the most powerful DAWs out there, but small workflow improvements like these could make it even better. Many producers work fast and efficiently, and removing these small friction points would make the experience much smoother.
