Cubase 15 and ni s88 mk3 keyboard - dropping control/no audio from keys - suddenly

In the middle of a session, the sound from the s88 mk 3 just stopped

tracks already recorded - fine - and a small akai keyboard mpk mini - keeps working just fine.

and - if i fire up cubase 14 - the s88 works (fine?)

but all of a sudden in 15 it’s gone flakey

i’ve seen some posts that seem to refer to something like this.

if you have thoughts on solutions - please assume i know very little about kontakt and komplete kontrol.

it seems likely it’s a midi setting of some kind -

i thought i had it fixed but adding a new track killed all track editing.

here’s the thing - i can see the track maps - the lighting changes - everything load - and even the preview cues play when scrolling through the list.

but playing that library - nope. it’s like nothings coming from the keys - the other buttons like starting and stopping the daw from the s88 - work.

just entering notes / playing sounds dropped.

This has been happening to me since Cubase 14. I have to unplug/replug the USB connector to get it back.

thank you - that didn’t do it for me.

i found somewhere - and failed to make a note of where - but it was to go - on the mac - to the ~/Library/Preferences, and put an x in front of the Cubase 15 folder - forcing cubase to create a new prefs folder and that has had the desired effect - so far - so i rebuilt the piece i was working on. and that let me get the job done.

However, when i open up the original file that had no audio output - there’s again NO sound. so must be something in that file tho no idea what.

Also, when i tried to create new files to start over before doing the preferences thing - all those files had that same issue: no sound.

For me unplugging/replugging did nothing.

And no midi controller worked -

i’ve had it where just the s88 doesn’t trigger sounds - but this one it was everything.

am sure there must be something i mis-set so am likewise sure this is a big pill solution with prefs that seems to only let you go forward rather than also fix anything from the previous issue.
