Cubase 15 and ssl controllers

I used the SSL uc1 for a while now and added the uf1. Now I have the problem that the uf1 ignores the first 16 channels. Everything is updated and I’m running out of ideas.

Does someone have an idea that helps me out? Thank you in advance.

Peter

I want to add that I tried to switch banks on the uf1, but that doesn’t help.

Also I added 16 dummy tracks to the little project and inserted a SSL channelstrip on each. Now it’s getting funny. With the uc1, that was able to access every channel before adding the uf1, I have access to channels 1-8 and 18-34, with the uf1 I can get to channels 16-34.

I also tried to set up one more Mackie conztol in Cunbase (I don’t know if this is needed) and routed the SSL V-MIDI Port 2 to the in- and output.

What else?

You didn’t mention your OS. Are you on Windows 11? If so, I wonder if this is the same issue we ran into with the SSL 360 link.

To chec, can you download the tool at the top of this article and paste in a screenshot of the output.

If it says the new Windows MIDI Services stack is enabled, you may need to uninstall the update until we have the fix out.

Thank you so much for taking time to answer. I use Windows 11, so this might be connected to the issue you mentioned .

Honestly, I understand only 5% of the blog you directed me to.

I also want to mention, that the MIDI ports worked perfectly for months with my uc1. I didn’t create any additional ports for the uf1. I’m not sure if I have to do this.

Download the tool for your platform and check the availability for the new service.

If you are using MIDI-Remote you need to deactivate the MCU feature.

I don’t use MIDI-Remote. I get the above printout from the midiservicecheck app. MIDI Service stack is obviously not running on my PC.

It seems, it did something wrong in my MIDI setup, but have no idea what.

I set up Mackie Control 3 in Cubase and assigned MIDI in- and output to SSL V-MIDI Port 1. The same, I did with Mackie Control 1. Now, the uc1 scrolls through all channels as it always did. The uf1 scrolls happily through channels 1 to 8. Bank change is still not possible, so no access to channels >8.

Just to let you know: Generic Remote and Mackie Control2 are acting with my Stream Deck. Does the Stream Deck now fight with the SSL control?

Sorry, you see, I have no knowledge about MIDI controllers.

Latest update:

I deinstalled the uc1, the Generic remote and the Mackie Controls, rebooted the PC and reinstalled the uf1 with a Mackie Controller.

Now I can access all channel starting from channel 17.

Then I plugged in my uc1. That can access all channels.
