Still no routing folders like in Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper and Studio One?
I asked about this as the first poster in this thread. And my question was removed and placed into a separate topic. With no replyā¦
Best,
Magnus
Do you really think they are not going to put a feature in because you donāt personally like something? Donāt use itā¦better yet, DONāT install it because, you need to MANUALLY install it to even be there. It does not get automatically installed with Cubase.
How should such a feature look like? You can record clips longer or shorter than a bar & loop them, which will create polyrhythms (if others are on-bar, or of different length), you can stretch or compress clips, to do polymeters, too.
Would you like a DAW to play each track in different tempo and/or time signature (4/4, 3/4, 7/6, etc.)?
Why? By all benchmarks Cubaseās up there with Reaper in terms of performance.
Yup they dropped the detailed change log stuff 2 years or more ago on Cubase which is really sad. Iād like to see all new features listed point by point in detail. Then as it used to be a list with item numbers of issues resolved from previous versions. There were bugs in Cubase 14 and before that persisted until the last 14.0.4 release despite users requesting a fix from way back in version 13 - why not give us a summary bug tracker list like what we all hope the developers are using.
Or maybe just the old style release notes format like this one
Cubase_10.0.60_Version_History.pdf (737.0 KB)
All release notes have been in the same place for years.
There was even a specific link to the Cubase 15 Release Notes in the announcement, and from there to the product pages listing the new features in detail.
Hi, because I and other users have experienced audio dropouts, high activity even with low to zero plugins loaded for some people. The Cubase handling of multiple CPU cores has been discussed.
I am sure you will agree system performance and stability is paramount to absolutely everyone. I personally value this and general UX more than having yet another compressor or such. Cheers.
I do, but I - and many others, Iād say most - have not encountered such issues & objectively Cubase offers great performance.
Amazing stuff, this is a seriously impressive launch.
Is there any official word on a linux version? Iām on 14 currently and thatās the only thing holding me back from upgrading as the longer I have to stay on windows the more itās a sunken cost for me, at some stage I will need to abandon Cubase as windows is becoming too anti-consumer.
My point here is to just put another voice out there begging for a Linux version of Cubase! Thanks!
Some initial reactions (just bought the Cubase release yesterday).
POSITIVES
- Love seeing expression maps improvements. Finally, only reason I had to buy it frankly.
NEGATIVES
Overall
The release is not big enough to warrant Cubase 15, this was a 14.5 release in itās current state.
STILL THINGS TO IMPROVE WITH EXPRESSION MAPS
Hoping to see more updates 2025-2026 - the release feels incomplete.
-
Editing sound slots is still messy and UX can still be improved. Many articulations are not there and many use texts instead of symbols. Experience is still not smooth.
-
More input controls (Keyswitch and MIDI PC is not enough). We need a global input control setting (single expression map can also have a local override input option if need). Expression maps should have strong integration with MIDI Remote Editor page I would also like to see touch screen subpage to be another input control option for expression maps (see below) - it just makes sense to have this directly in the DAW.
-
Expression map list would do well with columns and tags like vendor and other info and in general more sorting options for a better overview. Preferably offer folders too. Make sure we have features like batch save, batch rename, batch import, batch export. Users having expression maps tend to have large templates so managing and sorting expression maps needs to improve. Anything slowing you down here when making a big DAW template is an issue.
-
Still no factory expression maps from the big sample library vendors on Cubase 15 release date.
IMPROVE DRUM EDITOR
Like expression maps it feels like the drum editor needs overall improvements too.
- Still no factory drum maps from the big sample library vendors
STILL NO NEW DIGITAL TOUCH CONTROL INTERFACE
Composers and power users tend to use touch control interfaces. This is not something you want to fiddle around with on a tablet but rather setup within your DAW and DAW template.
It just makes sense to build my DAW touch control interface within Cubase for best integration. Add this with improved expression maps and other forms of articulation control options.
- Add a subpage under Midi Remote Control page for touch screen control custom page editing where I either use an updated app like iC Pro or similar or iPad sidecar to run these touch control pages.
- With the touch control interface, let me control expression maps (why not have dynamic buttons for the sound slots switching articulation text based on track selected) and other DAW controls, different macros etc.
- Work with media composers to offer their touch control templates and macros.
FIX iC PRO APP OR DROP IT
Fix the Cubase iC Pro app - the design is not same as Cubase 14 and feels very old. It doesnt work in large templates/projects and seem to have performance issue. I would suggest it is better to edit the control pages directly in the DAW (hence my suggestion of moving the touch control GUI to the Midi Remote Control page as a subpage).
STILL NO IMPROVED DRUM MACHINE INTEGRATION
-
The new Drum Machine in Cubase 14 would do well with some third party hardware integration
-
Maybe support different formats like a larger grid player format.
-
Work to support third party sample expansions. Having to convert Native instrument expansions is not great UX.
STILL NOT IMPROVED CONSOLE 1 + CONSOLE FADER INTEGRATION
-
Add a Cubase Channel Strip control mode on Console 1 MK3. Work with Softube on this, please. It may require a redesigned channel strip GUI.
-
Maybe let us use certain effects like Cubase Filters etc as an option within the Console 1 plugin.
-
DAW Mix console EQ preview windows must support third party plugins like Console 1 (Reminder: ProTools supports this features now). Why not allow to show more than one EQ curve per track (or a summed view of multiples 1st and 3rd party EQ curves into one curve) in DAW Mix console. This feature is important for good mix ergonomics.
-
Console 1 effect chain should be visible in DAW Mix console track when the Console 1 plugin is attached to that track with active effects (EQ, Compressors etc). Also critical for good mix ergonomics in Cubase. Support third party effect chains as an addon section the Cubase Mix Console.
-
Console Fader MK3 must be able to recall multiple saved DAW Mix Console views within the DAW (not Console 1 Favorites function). Also important feature for good mix ergonomics.
DOWNLOAD MANAGER STILL NOT PROPERLY UPDATED
-
The Cubase Download Manager needs some serious graphic redesign. It looks terrible and and should also be integrated with the authentication app for better UX.
-
Still cannot uninstall older versions of Cubase on MacOS via the Download Manager (Terrible).
PROPER ULTRAWIDE SUPPORT STILL NEEDED
I still have to use two dual screen windows on my Ultrawide display to see arranger/sequencer window and mix console window at the same time. We still need improved full screen ultrawide support where you still can see these workspaces side by side.
If you buy Cubase on sale, why not wait to activate it until the new version is released? Itās well known that the new version always comes out on the first Wednesday in November.
Agreed. They are there but not as detailed as they used to be. On the version updates they donāt have the numbered listing of issues fixed that the example I gave of 10.6 had. Fair enough itās no big deal I guess, and true the products videos are very useful.
This may be so on Apple OS, where Steinberg did a complete rewrite of Cubase. On Win 11, Cubase lags behind quite a bit and does not utilise the multicore cpus optimally.
There are plenty of benchmarks that show that.
Best,
Magnus
I have Reaper and Cubase and am using Windows 11. Cubase now is as efficient as Reaper on my computer with regards to CPU usage. And thatās with CPU hungry plugins like Roland, Softube and U-HE.
Hi, wondering if anyone can help please?
I purchased Cubase 14 in April 2025, hastily entered the access code to enable some free third party plugins as they were expiring.
I have not activated 14 at all, it clearly says in my account.
Is this not entitled to the grace period update to 15?
I always thought it was the actual activation that affected the grace period?
Thanks
Check previous release notes. Those are 4-5 times longer because they include all the small changes that nobody is talking about but sometimes are crucial for long time users (often itās about UX).
Either C15 has the smallest number of changes since many many years, or they didnāt wrote the full list this time.
It is possible now the icon is in the top of the Pattern editor.
Also, when you recall the pattern, if you drag from Mediabay or Right Browser you also recall the associated Instrument.
Is it reversed in both the project window and the mix window, or just in the mix window?
You donāt like it so Fk everyone else. Hereās an idea, donāt install it.
