If the drop outs reproducibly occur at the same position then the project overloads Cubase.
If the drop outs happen at different positions then it is likely that something on your computer interferes with Cubase. Graphic card driver, network chip driver, USB devices, … anything really.
I’ve encountered issues with multiple mix consoles open on 3 screens. Sometimes one of them is whited out and does not open up at all, and I have to enable a 4th mix cosole and make it the 3rd.
What’s more annoying is that vocalign pro makes the saving process unbearably slow at times, to a point where I keep the track playing while mixing, only to avoid autosaves.
One more thing that would really improve my work flow would be a perfect integration for the Faderport 8, to be able to use the buttons that cannot be assigned.
These issues were present in Cubase 14 as well. I’m a big fan of Cubase , hoping these issues will eventually be resolved.
If i may flinch in for a quick comment: i also get that “read error” when launching cubase15. I had hoped the new update would resolve it, but unfortunately its still there. And happens very random, not everytime when launching Cubase. Steinberglicence engine.exe bug?
Two minor ones which continue in the 15.0.6 update :
#1) When instantiating a new VST Instrument, the project does not immediately go to the corresponding MIDI track. The project remains on whatever MIDI track it was on before.
#2) In the Variaudio Editor : a strangely intermittent one -when using “Ctrl + A” to select ALL events then apply something to ALL events within Variaudio editor, sometimes ALL events remain selected, sometimes after applying one thing, suddenly the events become deselected. For example, it’s a bit annoying when applying a pitch “fade in”, then trying to apply a pitch “fade out” only to find that all events have been deselected, then having to go Ctrl-ALL again…minor issue but when dealing with so many tracks, I’m always trying to minimize the amount of clicks and Ctrl this Ctrl that etc…
15.0.6 seems to have fixed my plugin GUI lag, but plugins open and close a bit on the slow side still. They work great when open, no slowness or lag, but it’s just odd it takes like 3-5 seconds to close an instrument. No CPU or memory really being used. At least the performance is otherwise pretty good and stable now.
Lately, I’ve been getting quite a lot of freezes, where Cubase is still running but I can’t do anything but force close it with task manager.
By a lot I don’t mean all the time but every other day. Not quite sure if it’s Cubase or one of the plugins that causes this weird behavior. I’ll keep an eye on it.
edit:
It may be caused due to an overload when I use melodyne or vocalign until I make the changes permanent.
It’s Suspend Auto-Scroll When Editing, and you can find it under the Select Auto-Scroll Settings (the drop-down menu arrow next to the Auto-Scroll button).
