Cubase 15 fails to launch if the system's username contains Chinese or Korean symbols [Windows only]

On a fresh installation of Windows 11 25H2, I installed Cubase Pro 15 using the Steinberg Download Assistant, but it fails to launch. The following error message appears: “The application was terminated due to an error while executing the file: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 15\Components\hubservice.dll”. How can this be resolved?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

can you provide more computer specs, please (see minimum requirements)?
Did you try to install with admin rights?
Any anti-virus software etc?

The base configuration includes a Core i5 14500 CPU, 32GB RAM, and an NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics card, with a clean installation of Windows 11 25H2. The hardware significantly exceeds the minimum requirements. The installation was performed using the official Download Assistant tool and successfully activated. No third-party antivirus software is installed, and all built-in security tools have been disabled, yet the issue persists.

I also have the same situation

Run sfc /scannow with the command prompt as admin. Just to be sure that isn’t a system corrupted files problem and don’t worry if you fall in the corrupted files scenario, it will repair them. Just do it. Doesn’t matter if your system is fresh.

Tried it, didn’t work.

What didn’t work? What was the sfc response?

Perform this then as admin:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

then if you get errors this:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I’m having the same problem. I tried everything above, but nothing worked.

So then the problem is not coming from corrupted files in Windows. I would now uninstall and reinstall the Cubase 15 application.

I have reinstalled many times, but the problem still persists.

Every time I reinstall Download Assistant, I encounter a compatibility error related to Bonjour. I don’t know if this is the cause.

I tried double clicking to open the previous project file and found that it opened smoothly. However, when preparing to create a new project file, an error dialog box popped up. After analysis, it was found that the HUB cannot start, and whenever the HUB needs to be called, the software immediately crashes. I think this should be a huge bug in the new version of the software, and I hope this issue can be resolved as soon as possible.

That is happening to me randomly when I run cubase or wavelab is a TPM warn related to bonjour service. I have digged into it. The solution for now is to go in Windows services and terminate the service (bonjour) then switch it to manual or automatic. Waiting for Windows updates.

The Bonjour service, developed by Apple, is needed to enable devices on a local network to automatically discover and connect to each other without manual configuration. It’s essential for functions like finding network printers, accessing shared files and media, and using certain Apple applications that rely on it for communication, especially when using both Apple and other operating systems like Windows together.

I don’t think is a Steinberg software fault otherwise it would happen to everyone of us or at least to the lots.

Maybe the issue occurs only in China?

He just need to go in windows services and stop bonjour service, then launch Cubase.

Perhaps…

I’ve tried it, but it still doesn’t work. Bonjour service has not started at all, there is no need to manually stop it.

I think the Hub of Cubase Pro 15 relies on the bonjour service to run, but the bonjour service simply cannot start. I tried to start it manually, but the bonjour service automatically stops when running Cubase.

“Every time I reinstall Download Assistant, I encounter a compatibility error related to Bonjour. I don’t know if this is the cause.”
Stop the service mDNSResponder.exe

You can also uninstall Cubase 15 reboot then go to the downloaded folder where Cubase 15 is and install it manually. Downloads/Steinberg/win64…. as you might got errors during the first installation.
