Cubase 15 freezes w changing audio interface during startup

Hi,
It is becoming almost impossible to start C15 Pro (15.05) on MacBook Pro M2 Pro 32GB “ram” on MacOS 15.7.2, especially if I try to change audio interface during the startup process. This fails in 95% of the cases and C15 freezes for 5 min or more or never recovers and I have to force quit. Starting on build-in audio interface sometimes work and then I can mostly change the interface once a project is loaded without C15 crashing or freezing for many minutes.

If I get it to start properly, it runs very well from what I can see and is as snappy and efficient as C14 Pro. But the startup issues can easily steel an hour of a session, which is not acceptable.

If I don’t change interface during startup, it is usually a better experience, but far from great and it often freezes / crashes when changing interface once up and running.

I often work in different studios with different interfaces that I use, so this is a real show stopper for me.

Cubase C14 Pro is buttery smooth and never crashes, so was C13.

Does anyone else have these issues? Have you manage to work around them somehow? I see there are other issues with startup crashes, but nothing seems to be connected to changing the audio interface during startup, something that never used to be a problem.

Any help on this issue is very much appreciated, as I’d really like to run C15 Pro instead of C14 Pro.

Hi,

Do you get a *.ips file? You can find them in the macOS Console utility.

No, it doesn’t look like I am. I can’t see any that are related to this at least… I think. I don’t have many crash reports at all in Console.

I’m also having this issue - extremely frustrating. I get around it because sometimes Cubase asks if I want to delete program preferences, and doing so bypasses that screen.

That could potentially be a solution. You get that option if Cubase crashes. But I’ve really tailored how I want Cubase to work over many years and don’t wanna lose that setup.

Any other solutions?
