Hey all,
We all rely on opening a track’s automation lane to adjust volume, it’s one of the most frequently-used parameters in mixing, editing, and arranging.
In Cubase 15, this familiar workflow becomes a bit unpredictable. After adjusting something like a reverb decay and returning to make a simple volume change, opening the automation lane often shows a previously-used plugin parameter first, instead of Volume. This makes the process feel less direct and can lead to accidentally automating parameters you no longer intend to touch.
The “last touched first” concept is genuinely helpful, but the way it currently appears can interfere with the established workflow. A smoother approach might be the following:
Cubase should check for the “last touched” parameter only when the automation lane is opened, and even then, place it after all existing automation parameters already in use on that track.
This keeps the familiar structure intact, ensures Volume remains immediately accessible, and still allows the “last touched” feature to be useful without interrupting the flow.
Is this only me that adding a bunch of automation to the wrong knobs?
because we except the first automation line always for last decade was the volume fader and Cubase 15 is changing a very, very old muscle memory here
For you and your specific problem, I think maybe something wrong with your installation? Because I’ve just tried this and every fader I touch will appear in the automation lines.
By the way, I am totally agreed with you. Why change something that works and has been working for so many years.
i really dont know, i tried all these things but its doesnt show up
you can clearly see i wrote automation for DJM filter and Deelay plugins.
when i close the automation lane and re-open, its gone and i only see the “last used parameters” that have nothing to do with the alreadry written automation.
I can touch a gazillion parameters in a VSTi, and i still would have to see the already written automation like that DJM filter etc
