I had been using Cubase 11 on windows for a few years now with an e-Licensor. I just now purchased the Cubase 15 upgrade and finished installation and activation. But my Cubase 15 is not opening. I double click on the app, it shows spinning loading cursor and after that there’s no response.
My travel laptop is a basic one which has a 11th gen i3 processor. My workload is pretty light, so Cubase 11 runs fine without any issues for me. On the Steinberg website, the minimum system requirements for Cubase 15 shows i5. Is that why it’s not opening? Can you guys help me with this.
I don’t think your i3 processor is the issue. It is three generations newer than the minimum requirement (gen8 i5).
Could you describe more specific what exactly happens when you start Cubase?
Do you get the Cubase Splash screen? Does it hang somewhere? (I had an issue with Cubase hanging while scanning (ironically) Halion Sonic).
If you don’t even get the splash screen, I’d try the following:
Check your “Documents\Steinberg\crashdumps” for crashdumps of C15, upload them here.
Check the %APPDATA%\Steinberg folder and move all the folders named “Cubase XY” e.g. to your desktop (you can put back the older one for your C11 later), start Cubase see if it generates a new folder. Maybe some settings were incorrectly imported.
Once in a while, checking the windows event log (system/application) can give pointers.
Hi fese, so, there is no splash screen when i open Cubase 15, only the spinning loading cursor and nothing after that. I opened and checked my Steinberg crashdumps folder, there are no files for Cubase 15, all the files are of Cubase 11.
In Appdata/Steinberg folder, there are only 3 folders - they are 1, MediaServices 2, Steinberg MediaBay Server 3, Steinberg MediaLib. I cannot see any named Cubase here.
and JuergenP, i have run moderately medium-heavy projects on this same laptop but on Cubase 11. I’m hoping, with my same workflow, Cubase 15 also should run fine on my laptop for my needs. I’m wondering why is Cubase 15 not opening at all.
Just so we are speaking of the same thing - with %APPDATA%\Steinberg I meant “C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg” - this is where Steinberg products store their configuration. If it is only those three you listed there, that is not a lot, I would expect at least “Activation Manager” in there.
Is this the same computer where you have C11 installed? If so, there has to be at least a “Cubase 11_64” folder in there.
The Cubase program itself should be installed, as JuergenP mentioned, in c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 15. Maybe check that too, if everything is installed correctly. It should be roughly 2GB in size.
I did a windows reset and installed Cubase 15 again. Now it’s working fine.
I had done these same steps before the reset and it wasn’t working. not really sure why.
Anyways thank you so much for both of your help! send me a message if you’re coming to Mumbai anytime. Would love to catch up! on instagram you’ll find me - krishnarajviolin. Thanks a ton guys!!!
