Cubase 15 pro crashing when i press slice in sampler track

This makes it unusable as i use sampler track a lot. It crashes as soon as i press slice in the sampler track. Worked on a project in C14, used the sampler track, sliced and programmed and saved. Then opened that project in C15 and it crashed. Mac OS Sonoma 14.8.2. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same happening on my other machine running Mac OS Sequoia 15.7.1. Seems like the sampler on C15 is broken. What a shame. Need that fix now.

Please upload the .ips file (crash report) here.
BTW - it doesn’t crash on my Win10 install.

Yeah, I noticed that when testing another issue an hour ago. Crashed every single time. You should probably tag your post with “issue” or make a support request with the simple steps to reproduce.

Hi,

The crash is in Sampler Track. Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.

Hi,

So far, we cannot replicate the issue. Could you share the audio file you are using in the Sampler Track, please? Do you use WAV or AIFF? What Sample Rate and Bit Depth, please?

Hi

Project settings are 48khz 64bit. Tried various files. 48/24, 44.1/24 . All wav. Will try making a video and uploading here.

so its not crashing when i am slicing files with 24 or 32 bit rate. Only crashes when the file bit depth is 64. Any solutions please?

My WAV and steps to reproduce on MacOS 15.6.1, Cubase Pro 15:

  1. Create an empty 96 kHz - 64 bit float project (also crashed with other sample rates)
  2. Create two Sampler Tracks
  3. Make a duplicate of the attached drum sample
  4. Drag one copy to an empty space on the track area to create a new audio track
  5. When the Import Options pops up, deselect Split Channels; check Sample Rate; Bit Depth should be greyed-out since it matches the project
  6. Select one of the Sampler Tracks and drag the audio from the track to the Sampler
  7. Select slice and turn it on (doesn’t crash)

To crash the application:

  1. Drag the other copy of the drum sample from Finder window directly into the Sampler Control window

  2. Select slice and turn it on (it crashes)

    Drum (D) 48K.wav.zip (625.9 KB)

Both files have the same bit depth:

The imported & converted version slices:

The 48 kHz version crashes Cubase:
