Cubase 15 Pro freezes at start up

Hi!

I have problems when I start up Cubase, since most of the times it gets frozen when the hub screen is loaded, or when I choose the path of a new project or trying to open an existing one.

Not always happen, but I would say 2 or 3 out of 4.

I close the process with the Task Administrator, and start up again, and then it works.

Is this a known bug to be fixed in future updates? Is there anybody suffering this?

Running on windows 11 (any problem so far with C14 Pro)

Thanks!

Best regards

Txema

I haven’t tried Cubase 15 on Windows yet, but I have never had such problems with v14 or with v15 on MAC.

Your problem sounds strange. It could be a defective drive or just some Cubase preference problems. Sounds kinda random so could be a number of things. Does the cpu use go up in Task manager when it hangs? is there any processes that gets really busy or do not respond other than Cubase?

I would try to delete the preferences and start “fresh” and go from there.

Thanks mate. No strange behaviour on CPU or RAM usage when it happens… I’ve also thought about deleting the preferences, but I have a lot of customizations there. Anyway, I will have to do it at some point so I’ll grab a copy and also write down any modification to replicate on a new one.

Thanks for your help

I have almost the same problem. It often stalls at “initiaizing Mackie HUI”. Task manager says “inactive” However, I cannot fully terminate the process and have to restart the PC before I can start Cubase again. Never experienced this with prior versions

This happens on my Windows 10 system but not my Windows 11. If I run Cubase 14 on the WIndows 10 system there is no issue. It’s probably a plug in incompatibility with Cubase 15 on Win 10 as If I disable third party plugins it starts up fine. It appears to be a VST 3 issue as that is where it freezes

Hi

I have the same issue of hub freezing for a while when starting AND exiting cubase, it is annoying and hopefully it will be fixed with an update. On win 11 but never had this issue with any other cubase version.

The first option I would try is opening Cubase in Safe Mode. (when flash screen starts hold down ctr+sft+alt)

Then try 2 options.

  1. Deactivate all 3rd party plugs
  2. Disable program preferences
    What happens then?

Thankfully this is not the case after I did some Waves updates. Maybe it was something in their plugin code that was causing the system to freeze?

Make sure you have the latest plug ins - even if you regularly update them! It likely only takes one bad apple…
