Cubase 15, Q-Link doesn't work on channel audio routing

Cubase 15, Q-Link doesn’t work on channel routing.

When “Option+Shift” is pressed, trying to change the channel audio routing on all channels, only one channel changes.

Seems to only affect audio IO. MIDI IO works.

Hi,

It works. You have to hold the modifiers before you click on the Output slot and keep it holding while selecting the bus.

In the past, you could hold it later (when selecting the bus).

It has been discussed here on the forum already.

Gottcha. Thank you, Martin.

Just curious what the reason was for changing Q-link behavior on audio routing while leaving others intact, such as the MIDI routing.

And any chance to change it back? Decade-old muscle memory…

Hi,

The different behaviour has been reported already. Let’s see.

Martin - C15 has also messed with Q-Links key command settings.

Prior to C15 you could toggle Q-Link via a key command from anywhere. Now, you have to have a mixer window window open and in focus for it to work!

This is a real PITA unnecessary change for those of us used to working with it this way.

Hi,

Could you give me an example, please? Do you mean the real Q-Link switch button controlled from other, but the MixConsole windows? Or do you mean the temp Shift+Alt Q-Link?

Yes - the real Q-Link button.

Assign a key command to it and try and use it to toggle its state.

Pre C15 it worked from anywhere. Now it only works if the actual button is visible in a focused window.

I thought I had the same problem this morning, as I just started using 15.

Though I think the order actually matters - must press/hold shift FIRST, then press/hold option(alt) while in the Project Window.

While in the MixConsole, the order doesn’t seem to matter and you can see the Q-Link engage whichever you start with. At least for me on mac!

It appears that the trick is pressing the Shift key first, followed by the Option/ALT key, and then making a change target to routing setting. This is how it appears to work in the Channel Settings window. Otherwise, only one channel change its output.

In both ways, Q-Link lids in a mixer, but the behavior is not the same.

I personally dislike changes in behavior in this manner, as they disrupt workflows when certain key commands no longer do what they did earlier.

Modifiers pushing order matters. My “muscle memory order” is Option first and then Shift because thumb easily hits Option first.

Edit: Trick seems to be: even Cubase 14 that function behavior is totally random. I have no time for this debugging poughkeepsiewetpaste
