Cubase 15 Wishlist

Hello dear Cubase team and colleagues,

Here is the wishlist of mine about Cubase 15:

  1. Pro Tools - BeatDetective (like)
  • All in one powerful tool for quantizing, slicing, fade-in/out. crossfading…
  • In Cubase all these features are separated and placed a bit chaotically. A centralized tool would be very welcomed.
  1. Polyrhythmic Audio, MIDI and Instrument tracks.
  • Would be nice to have an ability to set a custom Time Signature per track, or even per Staff

  • In case we are having piano, we should be able to have different time signatures per staff.

  • Probably in this scenario we’ll need the Metronome to perform by selected track, or staff basis

  • This needs also to be synchronized with the Score Editor.

  • In general since Dorico and Cubase are going to become an ecosystem, many things that are available in Dorico, need to be integrated into Cubase as well.

  1. Option to open the instruments inside the Pattern Editor, like in Studio One:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW7v9Y7QEPM
  • This will improve the single screen workflow
  • It’s useful in case of live performance involving Cubase on the stage.
  • Currently something like that is available only with the Drum Machine.
  • Would be nice to have it with all possible instruments, or at least with those provided by Steinberg.
  1. Playing Techniques - (available in Dorico)
  • Will provide two opportunities - to have more restrictive Expression Maps to techniques / expression assignment and opportunity to create custom techniques / expressions.
  1. Playback Templates - (available in Dorico)
  • Allows faster switch between various existing Instrument Templates, without closing Cubase.
  • Useful when we need to transfer a project from powerful workstation, to a far weaker laptop with less RAM, or CPU power, or lesser hdd/ssd space, where we need to use lighter Playback Template.
  1. Flows - (available in Dorico)
  • Allows the creation of a separate movements, or scenes.
  • Allows the having of various instrument sets per flow, while saving vertical screen space. It shows only the instruments per flow, the rest are hidden.
  • This will be very welcomed by the film music composers because they will be able to have clear Symphonic orchestra, jazz band, or rock band per Flow within a single project.
  • In Cubase we’ll need an option to shows us all Flows, together, on the Timeline, or per Flow basis.
  1. Divisi - Independent Voice Playback (available in Dorico)
  • This will allow us to have properly controlled multi-articulation Divisions, while they are looking fine in the Score Editor at the same time.
  1. Score Editor improvements that will lead to overall Cubase improvements that I’ve mentioned in another threads here:

Best regards,
Thurisaz
