cubase 5 - MacBook Pro, 2,5GHz, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM

Hi !
My brother has Cubase 5 that he hasnt used for several years.
He has several hardware from the 90`s that he now wish to connect again to:

  • MacBook Pro, 2,5GHz, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM

Does he need to upgrade to Cubase 7.5 or 8 ?
Is there a discount since he have the original 5 version,
or has he have to buy it totally new ?
What is important to remember in this case ?

Here is a list of what he got of hardware, suggestion and reminders are welcomed

The version of the operating system is probably the biggest issue here. It will determine whether the software will run properly. If, due to OS version, there is a need to update, there is a discount for doing so from Cubase 5. The most important thing to remember is that with each new OS version and Cubase version, other software and hardware drivers may have problems.
First, determine what OS version you have or want. Then, check on the availability of drivers for the hardware for that OS and compatibility of software you own or want with that OS.
