Hi all, back from the dead…
Does anyone know if the FTP archive file cubase_5.5.3_update.exe is a full installer do you have to install the original CD and do successive updates?

Just in case someone is searching for this answer, here is what Steinberg Canada answered me (and quite quickly I might add)"
The 5.53 is not a full installer it requires a copy of 5.50 or higher installed first. Usually you would start from your CD then go to 5.50 then up to 5.53. If your installer installs 5.0 you may also need to update to 5.11 before the 5.5
