Cubase 5 stuck (endless micro loop)

I recently posted here about installing windows 7.
I used to experience some problems with xp.
Cubase would get stuck when I was mixing or playing a session.
It would hang in a kind of micro loop (as posted here a while ago by someone else).
It does this regardless of the plugins, because every session this happened to had different plugins.
This also started to happen in W7 unfortunately…
The user who also had this problem stated that he had a Q6600 quad core.
Could this be the problem? or could this be a 5.5 issue???
Windows 7 doesn’t crash, but my soundcard and cubase crash.
I also have to restart the soundcard because when I close cubase via ctrl/alt/delete the soundcard still hangs.

This is what I’m using:

UX2 line6 (but i also experienced the problem with a different sound-card so I don’t tink this is the issue here)
W7 32bit with 4GB ram.
Q6600 quadcore processor.
The latest Cubase 5 update.

Is there a chance this problem will go away if I install Cubase 6?
Or should I simply buy another pc?

bump… anyone please? just got another crash and a bluescreen after restarting my soundcard…
could it be a hard-disk error??
My sessions and samples are on an internal 1tb hard-disk… the 7200 (or something) rpm type.

I could really use some help here…
Just opened my most recent session, this session did crash this morning.
I didn’t even press play and Cubase5 had to close due to an error.
When I reopened cubase I had to switch back to my UX2 line6 soundcard i the Asio settings, but it said Asio open failure and I had to restart my soundcard.
Anyway, here’s the log:

something else that was pretty strange also happened.
I’n my mix session, that uses Superior Drummer I was editing the PSP vintage warmer that was added on the group track and suddenly only the kick drum was to be heard…
This happeden once more a while ago… almost as if all of the outputs stopped working?? Cubase didn’t crash, but I had to restart the session in order to hear all the outputs normally.
Don’t know if this has anything to do with it.

So no one knows what might be happening?? great… so I may actually have to buy a new PC
