Cubase 5 / UR824 Direct monitoring

Hi there!
I have a problem understanding direct monitoring with Cubase 5 combined with the UR824.
I noticed (of course) that we are forced to use the control room, as the stand alone monitor mixer
is disabled when you open Cubase.
If I use monitoring via the cubase mixer, I get 1 sec latency…
I think I need to set the UR to ‘direct monitoring’ somewhere, but can’t find any buttons to do so.

Any good advice or tutorials out there?

Isn’t the direct monitoring option somewhere in the ASIO panel options within Cubase?

and in my case at least it wasn’t ticked by default.
