rasclart,
Why would steinberg want to set a precedent whereby users have to pay for features rather than applications (eg. plugins)?
Would that not mean that numbers rather than words are being used to differentiate product versions?

I decided to upgrade as I don’t mind spreading the cost, and must admit that I’m pretty impressed by the new instruments. Alongside HALion 4, I can finally see a way out of the NI Komplete upgrade cycle.
Paid for Cubase 6.5 update and it crashes my computer - trying to load up new instruments?
I read that this problem has been resolved and I need to go to my ASKNET ACCOUNT???
What is this? I did not receive an email from
asknet? just a download link (which is for the version that does not work.
This is discraceful, take my money… for unfinished softrware that does not work… and no reply from Steinberg?
Try trashing your preferences
Could you please elaborate on why you seek a “way out of the NI Komplete upgrade cycle”?
(Just curious!)
I guess the main reason is the abandonment of Kore in favour of Maschine and the increasing inclusion of content I don’t really use, plus dropping things that I did use (like B4, Pro-53, etc.). To be fair though, it’s probably just that NI are catering to a different market now, which it does very well.
+1
That one policy change would revolutionize the industry. Steinberg would literally stand alone, head and shoulders above the rest. From a profit standpoint, however, there is no reason to adopt such a policy. Customers will continue to buy the software even with bugs.
I’ve often wondered why Steinberg never publishes the specs of their test computers, all I can find is the “DAW components” page. I remember a none-to-kind response from a rather self-righteous forum member some time ago stating that there is no way Steinberg can test every configuration their customers (“monkeys” is the word I believe he used) cobble together and I understand that. However, by publishing the exact specs of their test computers us monkeys would have the option of assembling a computer that would be bug free. Or would it?
Hello! I was wondering where would be the best place to ask this so I decided to shoot here and not to start a brand new post: I recently (last week!) ordered a boxed version of Cubase 6.5 update from version 4 or 5, but instead 6.5 I received a regular version 6 boxed update! Now - I do understand the whole scheme with the free 6.5 update grace period and all, however I still feel slightly tricked with this order!!! I thing that if there is a clearly stated option which says “boxed 6.5 update” then that is exactly what is suppose to be delivered after ordered and paid and not workarounds with previous 6.0… versions in the box with option for additional online updates!!! Now the question is: is this suppose to be sort of technical mistake or shipping mistake or there is no mistake at all here, and it’s just something normal for Steinberg to sell one version online and to deliver another???
Thanks!
Activations after the first day of this year, qualify for the update, no boxes necessary just download the new version and install.
Can’t confirm I’m afraid, this doesn’t happen here. I suggest you try trashing your preferences. The update screwed mine over as well, getting all kinds of silly behaviour and crashes. Runs like a charm now.
Still can’t figure out why I am experiencing this issue in 6.5 … the “cycle loop” end-points move every time I recall a marker (a single marker) - they move to the marker… the left and right cycle end-points collapse down and relocate to the the marker itself. This is strange behavior, is it not?
I deleted all previous preference configurations. Any ideas out there???
Is any one else having an issues with the cycle loop when recalling markers?
I’m trying to update based off the grace period update and I keep getting an error that says “Cubase 6 setup failed. Fatal error during installation. Error: 1603”
I already have the new serial for my e licenser, I just need the install. I even tried downloading the install 3 different times
I tried uninstalling the first version I have on there and that won’t even uninstall its saying that there is a string error.
Anyone know what I should do?
Does anyone know if there is a complete downloadable version of the Cubase 6.5 for those who have license ?
thnx
Hello Topsould,

what steinberg do? it’s not serious, i tried 3 times.
I order a lot of things, more expensive, on internet and it nerver happened.
SO CAN I ORDER OR NOT?
DO I HAVE TO ORDER PROTOOLS???
DO YOU HAVE A REAL SOLUTION?
i 'm in Montreal , Quebec, this is the reason?
thanks for answer, if i have an answer
** NO PRESETS INSTALLED FOR PADSHOP OR RETROLOGUE. **
I did the online upgrade via the ELicenser system.
the Cubase_6.5_Update_Win.exe installed ok.
I ran the setup under my admin account and everything went without a hitch.
When I went to open the preset browse window via the inverted triangle on the
Padshop display window I go a dialog box that was completely empty.
The same thing happens with Retrologue.SO the question is,
are the presets part of the setup program or on a seperate medium.
I know from experience that the CD installations have a seperate content folder.
I’ve always had problems with VST3 presets for some streange reason.
I’m running XP 32bit.
Just a shot in the dark but C6 doesn’t support XP. Ive heard of a few instances now of XP starting to go wrong with it.
Montreal money’s as good as any… You will probably have to wait for an answer as it is late in Gernany, but remaining calm could help…

That’s probably best for all of us. ![]()
Can’t access the Windows C6.5 update that I’ve paid for ![]()
If anyone sees this who can help with a PM link or something over the weekend I’d really apprecate it, as asknet seem to only work mon-fri(!)
I have purchased the update for Cubase 6.5, but I also have Cubase Artist 6 on another computer
for my son, and I can’t find the update for it anywhere.
Has anyone updated their version of Cubase Artist to 6.5?
