Cubase 7.0.5 discussion

I’ve been doing pro work with C7 since its release… guess I’m one of the lucky ones…

Am I the only one who actually prefers the new insert design?

You like the teeny tiny hidden state button that is hard to find, or tell where to click (without an option to not click to open or traverse the inserts using the keyboard) to open the insert, or that non-media bay presets are no longer displayed, or that you can’t hover over the dang thing without the media-bay popping up, or telling what the level is?

I don’t think we mind the font now they have added more contrast … it’s how it functions that sucks.

LOL its not that tiny and hard to find IMO… now that I’ve gotten used to it, I know exactly where to find it.

What do you mean? I can easily tell where to click to open an insert. Also, I believe its still possible in C7 to open inserts using buttons on a controller via the generic remote. Thats what I was doing with C6 but I haven’t tried setting it up in C7 yet.

Not an issue for me personally. I’ve converted all my presets to Cubase’s VSTpreset format (media bay presets).

Huh? The media bay doesn’t pop up when I hover over the inserts.

Not sure I understand what you mean here…

I still use 6.5 for gigs, no chance its getting uninstalled for many moons.

You probably are. (Sorry I don’t mean this in an offending way !). Although I could probably live with the new look, I know that I hate losing existing functionality that I have learned to depend on.

Performance in Cubase 7.0.5 is actually WORSE than 7.0.4…

Spikes are present again, not as bad as before the .txt patch when the spikes would go into the RED, but they are actually present again.

I’ve placed the .txt back into the Cubase 7 folder after noticing this issue, I’ll test again tomorrow with that setup.

SO, to sum it up:

MY MAIN ISSUE STILL ISN’T FIXED
I can’t imagine anyone working with that giant text in the mixer, I cannot functionally do it.

BETTER LUCK on 7.0.6 STEINBERG :imp:

Using a iMac with OSX 10.8

to put things into perspective here, I’m finishing my 3rd album with Cubase 7 so it hasn’t stopped me from working.

My latest CD is album of the month in HiFi news in the UK

‘Miracle Mile- In Cassidy’s Care’

Yes there are niggles but the plusses out weigh the minuses.

I’m working with windows x64 and hi resolution monitors so I have no performance problems and the large fonts are better for me.

I’ve been using Cubase 7 for about 6 weeks now. It seems somewhat stable although yesterday early on in a session I went to punch out a vocal take and the whole application locked up (all the while still playing audio). I was forced to perform a Ctrl-Alt-Del/Task Manager/End Task to stop it. That’s never happened to me before with any version of Cubase.

**I strongly dislike that I can’t save my Mix Console setup globally for all projects.

**I strongly dislike that every time I load a project I have to hit F3 to bring up the Mix Console and F2 to hide the transport (why isn’t that saved as part of the project as in 6.5??)

**I strongly dislike that because I am using the Mix Console in full screen, I have to click an unGodly number of times to get my plugins to the front of the screen.

**I strongly dislike that overall, there is too much mouse usage with this version.

**I strongly dislike that something changed within Cubase 7 that I now have to hit “MIDI Reset” every time I launch the application in order to get my Tascam DM3200 to link to Cubase (if not, I have to wait 2 minutes for control surface to become active).

Even after 5 maintenance packs, it sure seems like this version has a long way to go before I would say it’s comfortable to use. What would really cheese me off is if we’re asked for another $50.00 for the next minor milestone release with so many problems still existing (Similar to what they did with 6.0 to 6.5 which I think took advantage of us).

Personally, I think Steinberg bit off more than they could chew with this ambitious release and their Execs need to back off on their marketing initiatives, continue listening to our feedback and allow their developers to get this version under control before adding any more eye candy or new functionality. I appreciate that Steinberg is always responsive and releases updates often, but the question is why so many? With so many bugs and updates one can only assume that Steinberg has QA issues and that they don’t do enough testing before releasing their products.

The good news is that, to my ears, this is the best sounding Cubase ever!

One Question…

Do you drug test your programmers?

Cubase 7’s evolution seems to be going around in circles.

You take things that were working great and you change them so that they are either not working, or very frustrating to use.

You Don’t fix things that are really important to the workflow.

I will go back to 7.04 now. too many crashes… missing automation settings on previous projects.

One word of advise… keep it simple.

I’m losing faith in your company.

Any date for 7.06?

Why, are you going to ask her out?

:nerd:

very funny :open_mouth:

In 6.5 if I created a new marker (I use the “I” letter as a keyboard shortcut), it used to create the marker and open up the text box so I could type straight in.

Now in 7.0.5, it only happens on the first marker, each subsequent one I have to click into the text box then type my note. It’s quite a bugbear as we do voiceovers and create sometimes up to 100 different tracks and it slows us down - not a lot, but enough.

You should start a new thread for this so people see it.

Here it works the same as in C6. With Marker window open, creating a marker does so, then places a text cursor in the marker description field.

I want to add that all the hidden buttons around the inserts that only show up when you mouse over them is just crappy design flaw. Who would ask for this??? I mean seriously, this is a something that makes some of us our living…

…Not some dang video game :imp:

having played with 7.0.5 for a while now, I’m still noticing that the shortcut F3 to bring up the mixer is still lagging, most of the time I have to press F3 twice to make it appear … :frowning:

Thomas, I’m not noticing this - the mixer appears almost instantaneously.

Agreed. What a step back…

It still isn’t working as it used to.
If the mixer is behind the Project window,
hitting your shortcut closes the mixer instead of bringing it to the front.
This is so annoying. Please fix this in the next update…PLEASE.
The mixer is the second most used window in the whole program…
Calling it up should work correctly from day one.

I’m using “Control + Tab” in the mean time. Seems to work pretty good.
