I’m trying to open an 8.5 session in 14. Missing plugins are reported. I reinstall the plugins and see them in Plugin Manager but the session still reports they are missing from the tracks where they were used. If I rescan all a folder called “Missing Plug-ins” shows up and lists them (as missing).
The first is BaxterEQ by Variety of Sound. I’ve installed the VST2 and VST3 versions. I even installed the 32-bit version and opened it in 8.5 but I got the same result.
The second is u-he’s Tyrell N6 as an instrument. Like before, rescan all creates a folder called “Missing Plug-ins”.
If I want to use either for new tracks there’s no problem. But I can’t recreate the existing tracks without knowing the settings.
… or start a new, empty project in Cubase 14 and import the tracks from the old Cubase 8.5 project.
Note also that in Cubase 14, VST2 is disabled by default. If you want to use VST2 plugins, you need to enable VST2 at the bottom of the Studio | VST Plug-in Manager dialog:
This didn’t work… at first. Then I found another installer for Tyrell N6 and that made the message go away (the plugin for the track was found)… but I couldn’t hear sound. So THEN I tried a new session and imported the track and I got sound!
I will keep this trick in mind. Looks like I need to go hunting for the BaxterEQ installer (posted a message on the developer’s Discord). Seems the version of the plugin matters greatly.
