Cubase 8 Pro ... have any of you run this on Windows 11?

Greetings -

I’ve used Cubase 8 Pro for ages. My Windows 10 laptop bit the dust, and I can either get a Windows 10 replacement laptop, OR get a Windows 11 laptop.

Have any of you used Cubase 8 Pro with Windows 11? If so, please tell me your experience.

On the Steinberg site Cubase 8 Pro is not supported on Windows 11…but that’s not what I’m asking.

thanks - Richard

Hi @Sir_Ricardo,

welcome back to the forum!

Yes, I’m running Cubase Pro 8.5.30 (in parallel with Cubase Pro 10.5, 11 and 12) without any problems on an older Lenovo laptop, and Windows 11 22H2.
Cubase Pro 8.0.x would most probably run, Cubase 6 (x64) did actually run.

  • The only thing you should watch carefully, if you’d also use any newer version of Cubase::
some older VST instrument installers might overwrite some parts of their newer versions (if already installed), so please be careful and really install Cubase 8 to a separate program folder and then check “every version of everything”, afterwards.

  • Another thing:
the reason why I’m still using Cubase 8.5 ist that it is (was) the last version that has (had) the VST 32bit to 64bit bridge. And I’m still using some 32bit plug-ins.
With Cubase 9 upwards one would have to use 3rd party VST bridge utilities like jBridge or similar, to use 32bit plug-ins in Cubase 64bit.

Best Wishes,
Markus
