Cubase 9.5.2 Pro - Freezes on mixdown

Windows 10. Freezes on start of offline mixdown at 0% and button is blank (‘cancel’ I think). Got it to work once only.
32 GB of RAM and never goes above 50%. Tried all manner of resolution and depth.
Got a CPU overload message when trying to mix in real time. Core i7
Rebooted PC - no avail.
Cubase 9.5.21 and same for 9.5.10 beforehand.
Steinberg UR44 and that seems to be working correctly.
I was trying to submit a ticket to Steinberg but went through a roundabout of websites and got nowhere. How can I submit a ticket directly?

Log in to the Steinberg website and go to your account “My Steinberg”. There’s a link for ‘My Support’ - click that and you will be presented with a form fro creating a new support ticket.

This is another issue. As far as I know, this is only the freeze of the progress bar, but the whole system is not frozen. Or am I wrong?

Hi,

By any chance, do you use any plug-in(s) on your Stereo Out/Master Channel, guys? Could you try to Bypass/Remove it, for a test?

It happens without any plugins anywhere.

This happens just exporting an audio clip, no plugins used in the projects.

Same for me.

Hi,

I have the same problem with mixdown without realtime…:frowning: Does anyone know how to fix it?

Hi and welcome,

Are you sure it’s the same?Isn’t just the progress-bar frozen? That’s another issue.

Could you add more details about your specification, please? Are you also on macOS 10.13.4?

I created a ticket for this under my account, and it got marked as solved before they even bothered to contact me. Great support Steinberg…

Just FYI I’m getting the same issues in three different studios with Nuendo 8.1 and OSX 10.13.4.
It does not happen with Nuendo 8.1 and 10.12 in the fourth studio.

I think it’s likely OS related, having the same problem with all cubase versions from 8.5 - 9.5.21 on the latest High Sierra.

For info, I finally had contact from Steinberg and they said that a few internal reports have been submitted and that the relevant department is working to trying and find a solution as soon as possible.

Good to know, thanks.

Same for me. I removed Ozone 9 off the master and got a successful result. Now it won’t mixdown with any and all master plugins off.

I’ve got the same problem with Elements 9.5.21 and 8.0.40 (I upgraded thinking it would fix it).

Export was fine until I upgraded to High Sierra. Now it does what everyone above is saying with the computer freezing every few seconds and slowing everything down.

Macbook Pro 2012, i7 2.9GHz, 16GB memory.

Good to hear they’re looking in to it … hopefully a patch will be out soon.

I can confirm that the problem unfortunately persists in 9.5.30.

Well that’s annoying.

There’s an improvement - offline bounces were pushing CPU to 1000%+ on previous version, .30 seems to be topping out at 600-700%, but still enough to freeze the system during exports.

EDIT:

Spoke to soon, just had a 1200% cpu spike during export.

For some reason the problem no longer occurs for me with 9.5.30. At least not for the three offline bounces I did.
