Cubase 9.5 with roland tr8s

Is there a way to sync the Roland tr8s with cubase 9.5? I dont want to use the tr8s as an audio device but sync the roland to start playing when I start playing a track on cubase. I selected it as a midi out but doesnt start playing when cubase starts

  1. Roland TR8S, go to Utility and change the SYNC to EXT via the USB connection assuming you have the USB driver installed on your computer for the TR8S.

  2. In Cubase go to Transport/Project Sync Setup/ Midi Clock Destinations window and select the Roland TRS8 USB midi connection as the output. Check the box to Always Send Start Message
