Cubase 9 to Cubase 13 licence update path

I currently run Cubase 9 with a USB e-license dongle on an 2015 Intel iMac on Sierra. This iMac is almost dead and I just bought a brand new Silicon iMac on Sonoma.
What is the upgrade path from a license point of view? I understand I’ll have to install Cubase 13 on the new iMac, but what about the license? I also understand I can buy an “update” license from Cubase 9 to 13. Does that work on 2 different computers? The old iMac cannot run Cubase 13 and the new iMac cannot run Cubase 9.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum.

You can just buy the upgrade from Cubase 9 to Cubase 13. To activate the new Cubase 13 license you need to connect the USB eLicenser, where the Cubase 9 license is stored, to the new machine and the activation process can proceed. No need to install Cubase 9 on that machine.

The new license can be activated on up to three different computers. You can find everything about licensing and upgrade here.

Thank you. I’ll give that a try.
