Cubase AI5 - ASIO Direct Sound Full Duplex Driver

Hello.

I am a brand new user of CuBase AI5. Just activated the Product and am trying to figure out how to use it with my Yamaha MM8 to record music.

The first message I get when opening the software is

"ASIO Direct Sound Full Duplex Driver

The currently installed soundcard
driver does not support Direct
Sound Input. Recording audio is
not possible."

I assume I need to download a Driver. Googling it only results in people who want to sell something.

a) Am I right that I need to download a driver?
b) Where can I download it? (Free?)
c) Any suggestions you might have would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks.

Do you have an ASIO compliant soundcard? That’s the driver you need to select in Device Setup. The Audio section of the Getting Started manual is where you need to be.

Have you installed the supplied USB midi driver? http://www.global.yamaha.com/download/usb_midi/

Then follow the instructions in the AI help menu under getting started.

Thank you for the responses. You solved the problem:

I was unaware of the huge amount of Start Up and Documentation information supplied with the disk regarding instructions on how to set up the system.

As I said, I’m Brand New to this, and I’ve got much learning to do… Ugh.

The upside for me is that I’ve been playing keyboard and composing (in the closet, so-to-speak) for 55 years, and I think that if I can ever get my work out there, the sky is the limit.

Thanks again.

Glad you worked it out :stuck_out_tongue:
