Each audio track that is added to a project automatically has the Record and Monitor buttons activated. They seem to be linked by default and though the monitor button can be manually deactivated it automatically activates when going to record or playback. This stops any sound from being recorded and makes it impossible to edit the track or playback. Can anyone help please as I have tried to get a response from Steinberg by posting on MySteinberg but after more than a month they have not responded and I am now desperate?

Double check the Preferences > VST > Auto Monitoring, please. The default setup is Manual here.
