Cubase artist wont play property, plays muted tracks, says.some of my plugins in tracks arent there

I paid for the full version of Cubase many years ago, downgraded to artist 11 due to money. This version has been a nightmare, tracks dont play properly, plays muted tracks or plays a part thats not even showing on screen or supposed to be playing.

I can’t find any support and im considering legal action as I paid for the full version and a product that works. I already had a few issues fixed many years ago with Artist 11, now its doing the same thing.

Its unusable and that’s not what I paid for, I have no issues ever with any other DAWs, with drivers and other glitches, except Cubase. There seems to be nobody to call and I literally feel like I got ripped off.

Im dead in my tracks with my music as I arrange my tracks in Cubase as it is the program I know the best.

Steniberg better make this right soon, im getting ultra pissed off ,I ve had nothing but issues with this program. It sounds good but if it constantly has issues or driver issues , its garbage.

None of this with Abelton ever, regardless of how long or how often I use it or not.

Reach out Steinberg Canada or Steinberg, really soon. If this goes another week ,im taking legal action as I didnt pay alot of money for a product that doesn’t work,.doesn’t perform well and has nothing but issues. Make it right and quickly.

Thanks so much

Cubase 11 is over 5 years old.
If it is not working, why do you write the rant now and not 5 years ago?

This must be a joke. First post to the forums and just joined, yet demanding things to be resolved that nobody can possibly understand.

Why don’t you slow your roll a bit and take things one step at a time? Create a topic that explains a specific problem you are experiencing. The more details you can provide, the better  .

There is no such thing as a downgrade.

I bet the Steinberg folks are getting pretty scared right now. I’ve been pissed and beyond, but never with Steinberg. I would like to congratulate you with introducing me to a new term … “ultra pissed”

I’m glad, at least, that you “didnt pay alot of money” for it  .

Seriously, your post is ridiculous.

Try again. This time actually providing enough information about your problem(s) that someone can try to help you. I’m not sure if that is what you want, though.

Haha, it was working til I just opened recently, that’s why.

What are you talking about? A joke, I paid for the full version originally not that it matters. I had this issue fixed years ago, now its doing it again.

I paid for a product that is supposed to work not have constant issues. And there is no real support it seems in Canada.

So yeah, its ridiculous and will be sorted.

And ive seen many complaining about the same thing, no support or numbers you can reach anyone at in Canada.

No other DAW ive used ever had any issues like this. And I explained a few of the issues.

I will be resolved but thks for your input, completely ridiculous and all other companies have real support and people you can reach.

Let us know how that works out for you

On a serious note, why not give us some details of the problem. You never know with help you may find a solution to your issue.

Cubase 11 is 5 year old software and probably not supported. In software years 5 years is very old. There is a good chance this old software is not overly compatible with a current OS. But again no info on what your system is.

I’m not in Canada but I’m sure there is a way to contact them. But again I don’t think Cubase 11 is supported.
I will follow with interest.

Yeah, I will let you know. It has zero to do with my OS operating system. I had this issue years back, which is as I already explained, muted tracks playing, tracks playing parts that shouldn’t be playing, moving cursor to different parts in track and still wont play those parts or sections.

I was lucky enough to get the last update from Steinberg Canada,or Yamaha Canada and that fixed the issue, I used the program for a while with no issues.

I hadn’t opened it in a year or so, as I been using Abelton with absolutely no issues and full support and very good support if needed.
I open it up to start arranging some tracks, I started by opening a track that I was older and all the exact same issues were there again. Its insane and ive never seen software be so unreliable. And ive been producing for over 20 years.

It literally makes no difference the version, I paid for the full version originally and then downgraded to artist 11 many years after my original purchase.

I paid for a product and I expect it to work and be supported regardless of age.

The comments in response to this are surprising. Of course Steinberg shouldmake this right.

Its either a driver issue with program or the program its self. I have music i need to work on there and this has caused major issues and stress.

Steinberg of course should support there products and long time customers regardless of age or anything else.

Ill find a solution and will make sure no one else has to deal with such a headache.

It just stopped working recently, I hadnt used it in a year or more. That’s why.

Any other DAW can be left for years and still work fine. My system has never been hooked up to internet to keep my material safe.

Thanks

What did you do to fix it?

Unless I missed it, you still haven’t mentioned what your operating system is.

Oh, okay … that’s what fixed your issues! Sorry, I missed that. You do realize that anyone can get any update available without the need for Steinberg support, right? Cubase Artist 11 downloads are available directly from the main Steinberg website or from the Steinberg Download Assistant.

Unfortunately, companies cannot officially support products for an unlimited amount of time. That’s just the harsh reality of things.

Make what right?

A driver issue with what? You still refuse to mention any details concerning hardware.

Oh, boy. Good luck with that. What is your operating system? Nevermind …

Have you tried starting Cubase with a fresh set of Preferences?

Hi, thanks for info, some of what you said makes sense and I appreciate it. My OS is PC with windows 10 Home. 64bit os, 32g ram. Ive only had wifi hooked up to this system once and keep it away from any internet.

I did forget that steinberg had what ever the lastest updates are but as far as I know, I got the last one that was available for artist 11 years ago when this issue started then.

A rep for Steinberg Canada in TO or Yamaha sent me the update and a transfered that from my phone and Installed on desktop, it fixed it.

Like I said, I stopped using it for a good year or more as I was using Abelton to start tracks and I wasnt really finishing material so I didnt use Cubase for a long time.

Nothing should of changed on its own as far as I know. My system is not online and should of remained stable. No other DAWs have these issues really, especially when completely off line from my experience.

Any company ive delt with support a product you buy regardless of age or anything else. And I have 20 years of dealing with different software companies to prove this. They want you to buy more products and of course show appreciation for spending the money on it.

I’m not a paying a cent to get a different version or newer version of Cubase. I was fine with Artist 11, it did what I needed it to do.

I do remember way back having driver issues, that caused simular issues , like not being updated and such. But thats nkt the case here i think. Its the program its self.

You mentioned resetting preferences or something, im not sure if I remember how to do that, I haven’t used Cubase in years really, so maybe give me more details on that.

Any orher program ive ever used , especially when left off line or on a dedicated system, could be not touched in years and still work fine with absolutely no issues like this. Only Cubase.

If I didnt like the software, I would of gave up on Steinberg years ago. I usually start loops with abelton , then arrange and master with Cubase as all my plug-ins ive bought are in Cubase.

I may even have the last update for that version of artist 11 on my desktop still.

But if its not working properly with the last update now, then not sure what to do. I had steinberg rep help me fix this over the phone and online before, I dont even know where to start this time, other then what you mentioned about checking the steinberg website or preferences.

Thanks for your time regardless.

Thank you!

Local Disk (C:) > Users > Your User Name > AppData > Roaming > Steinberg > Your Cubase Version

You can delete the entire “Cubase version” folder if you are not concerned about losing any custom settings. Otherwise, you can move it to another location or rename it. Upon the next Cubase launch, the default preferences folder will be recreated. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with your problems, but many users have solved strange things by clearing out mysteriously corrupted preference files. It can’t hurt to try.

Again, I would recommend picking out individual issues you are experiencing and posting a separate topic for each. Provide as much information as you can. You might be surprised by the amount of knowledge contained by the forum members here.

You’re welcome :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: .
