Cubase can't see my audio interface's inputs or outputs - SOLVED

Windows 11
Cubase Artist 13
Audio interface: Steinberg UR22C

I’ve been having (mostly) no problems with the same PC and interface, but today Cubase just doesn’t seem to recognise the inputs and outputs of my interface in Audio Connections. The correct ASIO driver is selected (I think), but the only inputs and outputs available to select are my laptop’s built in mic and speakers:

Weirdly there doesn’t even seem to be an option to change to the built-in ASIO driver (which definitely used to be an option).

When I go to Studio Setup it looks like these are indeed the only inputs and outputs associated with the Steinberg driver. The actual inputs and outputs on my interface don’t show up at all.

Sure enough, when I try to play something in Cubase the sound comes out of my laptop speakers and not through my interface, which is connected.

This definitely isn’t an issue with the interface itself: as a test I went into Musescore and confirmed that the audio is coming through the interface.

Can anyone advise? Sorry I would’ve included many more screenshots but apparently I’m only allowed to have one! Many thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Please open Studio/Studio Setup/Audiosystem and pick your UR22C. This should be the reason why you can’t see the input/outputs right now.

Hi you, have you installed the yamaha steinberg USB driver?
Just guessing.
You should for sure see this as an option in the studio setup dialogue. If not, there seems to be something wrong with the driver installation maybe.

Here’s the link

The ASIO driver is part of Tools for UR-C.

Thank you, that fixed it!

I didn’t notice there was a drop-down there, or remember that I should’ve been looking for UR22C rather than just Steinberg. I’ll have to remember for next time.

Much appreciated, you’ve saved me a lot of current and future pain
