Cubase categorizing a VST plugin instrument as an FX!

When installing a new instrument P/I cubase lists it as an FX and not an instrument. Is there any way I can change the category designation so I can move it to the instrument list and use it.?

Could you mention which VSTi you are dealing with?

Many synths also include an FX version which will show up as an effect plugin. Did you check to see if the synth was present? If not open the plugin manager and look under the Blacklist tab to see if it has been disabled.

Thanks for the replies but I figured out the problem and got it to load and work correctly.
All I had to do was remove the (64) in the file name and that allowed it to be see as an instrument.

Good, but that sounds a bit odd. What was the synth/instrument?
