Cubase crashes when playing virtual instruments

Hello all!
I’ve been solidly using Cubase Pro 11 on a 2012 Mac Pro desktop for many years now….no crashing at all. I recently decided to play keyboards live again and want to use the stock virtual instruments in CBP11. So i bought a 2012 macbook laptop with very similar specs as my desktop. However, every time i start playing my keyboard with The Grand or Halion Sonic SE, within a couple minutes, the latop crashes for no apparent reason. I’ve tried deleting Cubase 11 several times, reinstalling High Sierra and Mojave several times, use NO 3rd party plugins at all….with no success. Does anyone have any idea why a macbook crashes when playing Cubase’s virtual instruments??

Thanks in advance!

With old hardware there is always the chance that somewhere on one of the RAM modules there is an error. It is possible that running Cubase with the VSTis occupies enough memory to get to the faulty part.
I am not a Mac expert, on PC there are software utilities to run a hardware memory check, usually for free. maybe there is one for Mac as well.
