Cubase elements connects with the Focusrite 2i2 sometimes

Hi there,

thanks for taking the time.

My Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen can be seen in setting on my Mac and connects with GarageBand easily and connects with cubase sometimes.

I’m beginning to think I should get rid of cubase as sometimes it works but if I disconnect the interface and re-connect it then says ‘the audio driver could not be loaded’ ‘please make sure your hardware is connected correctly to the computer’

I’ve tried reinstalling the Focusrite driver–which generally works–but this time nothing.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
Giles

Hi,

Do I understand you correct, you unplug and plug back the Audio Device while Cubase is running, please?

Hi Martin,

Thanks for letting in touch.

No I don’t disconnect while it’s running but I have a portable set up so it’s uncommon for me to disconnect to pack up and then reconnect elsewhere.

Thanks,

Hi,

Is Cubase running when you plug the interface back or do you plug it in first and then start Cubase, please?

Hi,

No cubase isn’t running when I connect it. I generally just have the computer on then plug in the interface then fire up cubase.

I’ve even tried unplugging everything reconnecting then turning everything on again.

When I look in settings on the Mac the inputs and outputs are showing as the Scarlett 2i2 and GarageBand sees it but cubase says the device isn’t connected properly.

It’s weird. After about an hour of going through the routine of shutting down and rebooting it generally shows up again.

Thanks,

Hi,

I believe the computer restart helped in this case.

yep. but sometimes a restart does not fix the problem.
