Hi, So I’ve been using Cubase 11(first version I bought was 7 and then upgraded to 11) since I bought it around launch time and was quite content, no need to upgrade but after I had to reinstall my system a few months ago and I was checking my Steinberg account I noticed a free grace period upgrade IIRC to I think it was version 12 but then when going to install it actually offered me version 13 which I installed and have been using and then I’ve had another computer failure and I’m reinstalling Cubase again today and after going to my Licenses in the download assistant it is now showing I have an active Cubase 14 license? WTF?
What is going on?
The upgrades are fine, I’m not complaining as long as its stable, frankly the only upgrade I’ve wanted and waited for YEARS for is the ability to arrange the mixer channels independently of the arrangement window heh
Can someone explain what might be going on here, why are they seemingly giving me free updates?
lol, I am trying to workout if I’m missing something, I understood the grace upgrade to 12 as it literally stated it my user profile that I was offered it but by the time I noticed it and installed it, it basically installed 13 (this was in february I noticed all this, I was quite content with 11 but obviously took the upgrade) and of course today version 14.
So it’s a bug? Even though it is nice it would be good to know what’s going on, that’s why I’m asking, as it doesn’t seem right.
Maybe it was grace period update for you.
Or you was eligible for the grace period update when newer version has coming upp.
Cubase 13 pro was released on November 2, 2023
and Cubase 14 pro on November 6th, 2024
You need to know when exactly you have redeemed your voucher or activation code.
It is your determined date.
Unless at some point you actually put in an activation code and redeemed it recently, I’d just go with it, and be very happy you just lucked out somehow and got free updates heh.
Grace Period Update
The Grace Period for Cubase 14 began on October 9, 2024. This means that anyone who has redeemed a Cubase DAC since this date is eligible for a free update to Cubase 14.
I only discovered this stuff in February, last re-installed my C11 in DEC2022 and never noticed any of this stuff. In February it didn’t show Cubase 14 as being offered to me, just Cubase 12 (but actually 13) and today it basically said Cubase 14 is activated and I have it installed, it shows as active in the Activation Manager I haven’t redeemed anything other than the grace period offer of Cubase 12 in February (which when I went to install it basically offered Cubase 13)
…Ok after typing all that I was about to say I didn’t get notified about it but I decided to check my email and in February I received an email notifying me of this free grace period update.
Well that solves that, thank you Steinberg lol. How bizarre, why are they giving away Cubase updates for free?
