Cubase has an amazing manual

I was today years old when I realized the online manual is a just a subset of the real thing. And that the full manual is actually two thousand pages of hot German love.

For two years I’ve been thinking Cubase is great but the manual kinda sucks.

True story.

Hi,

Could you be more precise, please? Which parts are missing? Are you aware of the other manuals, like Plug-ins, Scoring, etc., which are not part of the Cubase manual itself (and it’s the same for the PDFs)?

Yeah. I totally got this wrong. They seem to be identical. Damn. Here I was hoping to get all my questions answered.

I guess my general critique of the manual is that it focuses mostly on 1–2-3 operational help and not context. In other words it explains exactly how to do something but not so often why. On the other hand you have all the excellent Greg Ondo videos for that.

Hope this is not off topic, but do you know of any resources to start using Cubase as a beginner? I don’t think the manual is sufficient.

Hi,

I would recommend to watch Steinberg Cubase Quick Start Video Tutorials.

Be aware, some menu entries has been renamed since Cubase 10:

  • Devices = Studio
  • Device Setup = Studio Setup
  • VST Connections = Audio Connections
