Is anyone else having the above issue on consistent basis with SampleTank 4 Max v2, Serum 2 & Deleting Files (Pool Window)?
I’ve reached out to Support (sent Crashdump files as well), who said it was down to a 3rd party plugin, which at the time was thought to be SampleTank 4 Max v2. However, I’ve also had it was Serum 2, and today when deleting files from the Pool Window.
I’m sorry - what are we supposed to do with this kind of information?
That’s like stating:
“The weather has always been bad out here since I bought this new chair.”
Cubase version?
OS?
Audiointerface?
What exactly is happening?
When is this happening?
Crash files?
What have you tried so far?
ADDENDUM:
Maybe you want to change the title as well and give it a more menaingful and informative character if you are really looking for answers or a solution to your problem. Just a thought…
It clearly states the Cubase version I’m using in the header? And it’s not the first time this issue has been mentioned in the forum?
The problem is, I’ve no idea what’s causing it, only that the message comes up when using Sample tank 4 Max v2 and Serum 2, and also when I’ve deleted files from the Pool Window (as stated in the post).
I’m on Windows 11, using the UR44C, and never had any issues before.
I’ve read that NVIDIA drivers could potentially cause the issue, but this is yet to be confirmed.
I’ve done a fresh install of SampleTank 4 Max v2, but the problem is still there.
I did wonder if the Armoury Crate (ASUS) software had anything to do with it, but I’m yet to look into it.
Any positive suggestions are welcome, to get to the route of the problem, rather than replies that are of no use.
What are the circumstances of the failures when running Sampletank or Serum, i.e. do they fail on instantiation or are the failures random during playback?
Do you have any crash dumps you can share? These might shed light on what’s actually causing the failures.
And lastly nobody, ever, should run Armoury Crate on a DAW machine. It’s an ugly piece of software which can cause system instability and also be a resource hog, while simultaneously providing no benefit whatsoever for a DAW platform.
Perhaps others (especially if someone from Steinberg reviews them) may be able to make more of the DMP files than me, but, FWIW, the Cubase 13 example clearly shows a crash in SampleTank 4. The Cubase 14 one looks to me like it is in Cubase itself, though there are some Windows system calls interspersed with the Cubase entries in the stack trace. Those may relate to communications with Windows facilities Cubase needs. No clue if those could somehow relate to plugin initializationm, but there is nothing that specifically calls out any plugin.
I’m genuinely not being rude with my replies, but it’s incredibly frustrating when I’m trying to get to the bottom of the route cause, but keep being asked for information I don’t have.
The information I’ve given is what I have, if I knew what was happening, or what was causing the issue, there would be no point in me reaching out to people in the forum.
I really do appreciate everyone’s replies, and am hoping that somewhere in this discussion someone can help find the route cause of the problem.
I’ve experienced crashes when emptying the ‘trash’ from the pool. It’s typically a 3rd party plugin that’s messed with the project. But the last time it happened, I stopped emptying the trash and finished the project and moved on. It’s not a solution, just a way I dealt with it. “Find a way to get your work done”
