Women, for example - lol
That applies to most DAWs, though. Sometimes the issue isn’t what you can display or hide, it’s the design language that the DAW uses that some people don’t like.
The color scheme or choices, the iconography, the font choices, the look of the custom controls, etc.
Users always have to walk the line between what they want functionally and what they are willing to tolerate aesthetically Sometimes, you just have to make the compromise to get the functional coverage you prefer or require our of a software product.
Lots of “industry standard” software look like dusty old historical relics, but they continue to be used and sell because they still get the job done better than most other solutions.
REAPER is themeable to change its look and feel, superficially, but that doesn’t change the fact that anytime someone opens a dialog they will be dealing with Windows 9x-era text-heavy dialogs with old-style custom controls. Theming cannot salvage that. A lot of REAPER is not themeable, and unfortunately the areas that people complain most about tend to be components that you cannot theme.
But I shall be sober in the morning…
If you complain ugly, and do not appreciate what it offers, it is not Cubase fault.
Like a person who went to doctor complaining if he touch the head, it pains. If he touch the leg, it pains. If he touch the nose, it pains. The doctor said, you have a broken finger.
Sometimes, certain people have to get some serious help and for that must stop bad mouthing.
Have a nice day.
Regards.
My favorite mic drops are the ones that end with “Regards…”
I think reaper looks great on MacOs where you can turn on dark mode:
Nuendo 13 made me switch. Both because of the GUI but also because it was super unstable with my projects
Awesome, yet another Amadeus-e.d.p post where its nothing but complaining because Cubase doesn’t match his opinion of what it should be…
Move on already and go find a DAW you wont complain about constantly…
Extremely Disappointed Person.
Must see a doctor soon.
Regards.
I am starting new projects in Reaper as well. Have not used N13 at all, probably because there is some pain in my finger; when I watch N13, it pains. Are you using one of the default themes on Mac?
I can also do without the whining about unfulfilled aesthetic preferences, and sexist outpourings anyway .
I don’t care whether the white of the font is 80 or 100% bright, or bold or thin, or if the resolution of an element is “just” normal high and not ultra-super-high. Simply doesn’t matter at all to me.
But I do care if there are more crashes and the performance is worse. That’s what really devalues an application, not some “ugly” design.
People who make good decisions and are organized, seem to not have problems with Cubase/Nuendo, and or, are on Windows/PC which is a good decision in itself.
True, and with some work Everyone can make c13 Quite crisp with some tweeking in preff. And like you say a stable advanced daw is more sought after then take 1-2 houers to tweek contrast what is crisp and pop out.
Interesting. Next Friday I will have been working literally non-stop for the past 5 weeks with the exception of two days (one weekend).
Amount of time I spent thinking about or even really looking at faders: zero seconds.
Amount of deliverables that due to the look of the faders missed deadlines, failed QC or had other notes: zero.
Out of all the things that could be improved in Cubendo…
PS: Owned Nuendo since v1. Specs in sig. Sound-to-picture.
I suggest you stop dealing with work so much…and more time looking at the faders
My bad…
My take:
Cubase looks neat and organized, and the UI complements the snappiness of the program in use.
Meters are lovely with full customization. Events are sharp and tidy, again with a lot of color and transparency options.
I actually think c7 looked the best, cleanest, simplest, and allowed to focus well.
But i hope they upscale it to make it super sample and downscale it and make everything crisp but dont take any more power coz that.
Yes Ive pretty much assumed the C13 gui is now simply flat compared to c12 in order to reduce the power required to render it? If so, that’s commendable IMO. They just need to sort out their needlework (use threads efficiently) and all will be good.
