Cubase Key Command Dialog presets

In the Cubase Key Command Dialog, when I choose a preset, the name of the preset shows in the preset field. If I then close and reopen the key command dialog, the preset field says “No Preset”, even though it is still on the same preset (I’ve confirmed this).
Is there a reason the current preset is not shown? Is there a way to get the current preset to be continuously shown?

The Preset dropdown (I believe) is only to change/save/remove the preset. It won’t show the current preset. It would be nice if it did.

Thanks Bob.

I think it would be a worthy feature: for the current key command preset to be displayed in the Key Command dialog. It would also be good if it displayed the word “edited” along with the preset name when you’ve made changes to that preset.
Would anyone else like to see this?

Here’s a really helpful tool to display all your current key commands in a nice overview:

This shortcoming is displayed in other areas as well. The File Format presets in the Export Audio Mixdown dialog for example.
I agree, it would be most helpful if the currently active preset was remembered.

I’m not in the studio right now but here the settings displayed in the Export Audio Mixdown show the last active settings when opened again. And these are the settings that are applied to the new mixdown, too, unless I change something. I’m on C13, Win10. Did I miss something or is this a matter of Cubase version/OS?

Yes, and it always irritates me, even though I know that. You don’t need to understand why the active preset is not displayed.

Does the preset field retain its value? That’s what this thread is about.

Sorry, my bad!
No, the preset field does not keep its recent selected preset - just the associated values like it´s stated by the OP in the very first post. I should have read the thread more carefully, apologies! :flushed:

The key command assignments all stay where you set them, but the preset name disappears from the preset field.
I’m migrating from Logic, and I’m going back and forth from the Cubase preset, to the Logic preset (there’s a “Logic Pro Key Commands” set in Cubase), and developing my own custom hybrid preset… and sometimes I get lost and forget where I left it.

Yes… that’s the big issue. If you want to ‘try’ some other preset, you need to save what you have, lest you loose what ever it is that you did recently. If you change a preset in a synth or FX VST, the name of the current patch is displayed with * after it. It’d be helpful to see that here.

Ah, the asterisk - that’s the way edited presets have been identified for years. Very good. That’s what they should do in the Key Command editor as well.
