Cubase LE 13 won't record audio

Two questions.

  1. how do I fix this error “audio drop out detected”?
  2. why can’t I record audio at all?

In the screenshot, you can see I opened a new project and tried to record.
You can see the input/output settings.

Actually we can see the output settings twice, no input…but I don’t think that’s your issue.

Is your buffer set to something sensible…not trying to record at lowest latency setting of your interface??

Buffer size is 512 and here is the input screenshot:

Just an observation : your record armed audio track has its input routing set to Mono In 2, which appears as disabled in your Audio Connections > Inputs panel…

Beside this, I guess that the the two Mono In busses and the Stereo In one reflect exactly the actual hardware inputs of your Scarlett 4i4. I would avoid creating any busses which would pile up one over the other, no matter the reason.

I deleted the two Mono inputs. Now the record button is greyed out.
When I try to change the input routing on either track from “No Bus” to “Stereo In”, it changes back to “No Bus” by itself.

Well it’s a mono track so it won’t allow a stereo input.

Recreate at least one mono bus and assign it the input you want to use, then choose this as input.

Thanks Grim.
The record button is available again, but I still can’t record audio.

I can record midi, so my Focusrite interface is connected properly.
If I import an audio file it plays fine.

Live audio is audible from the headphone output on the interface, so audio gets that far. It just doesn’t make it into Cubase.

There’s some box that isn’t checked, some setting that isn’t right, and I can’t find it.

Do you still get the drop out error or you just don’t get audio recording?

Could be your o/s microphone privacy settings.

Grim, you are my new best friend, may God bless you forever.
It was OS privacy settings, something I’ve never had to touch before (on my old Mac), but this is a new Mac. This new “feature” is SO annoying.
