Cubase LE 4 Set up

Hi Folks. I have a Zoom HD 16 that I bought new in around 2007. It came with Cubase LE 4. The disc is still in the sealed plastic bag. I’d like to activate and use if possible. I know that it is no longer supported and that windows 7 is no longer supported as well. Question: Will the program work in a newer/newest windows version? If so, I’d like to get a laptop that will run it. Also, do I need to/can I register Cubase LE 4? I read how to do so and it looks like there are still some downloadable fixes available. Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Yes, Cubase LE 4 was compatible with Windows 7 and it will work. You can also still activate it.

Hi Martin! Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend a laptop? Also, I think I can still get Windows 7?

Hi,

I don’t think you can get a new computer with Windows 7. The only way is to go for a 2nd hand.

Do you need Windows 7 only because of Cubase LE 4? As far as I know, you will get an update to the current Cubase LE 12 (Windows 10 & 11 compatible) for free.

Cool. I didn’t know about free upgrade. This leads me to another question: I think I need to register by downloading the program to access license #, right? Can I download 4 onto windows 10 to simply get the license and register?

I don’t have access to windows 7.

Hi,

You don’t have to download and install Cubase at all to activate it. In the case of LE 4, download and install eLCC and activate your license here.
