Cubase LE and AI to Modern Cubase license update

I would be very grateful for some real help. At the very least, I would offer up prayers to the Almighty, Krishna, Buddha, and everyone else I can think of. But alas, Ed didn’t help. In case you’re interested—I’m having activation issues with something I bought many years ago Cubase LE 11

Again, as Ed and Johnny already said, you can not buy Cubase LE 11, because that is Software that was bundled with some hardware device. So there is nothing to pay for it and Ed already supplied a license update to Cubase LE 15.

Start the Activation Manager and see if it is activated or not. You can not reactivate the old Cubase LE 11 license.

You obviously also have a Cubase Elements 11 license registered in your account. This is paid software and you need to pay the update price to Cubase Elements 15, if you want that.

The old license for Cubase Elements 11 can also not be reactivated, because the eLicenser (that was the old licensing system) has been shutdown in May 2025. This has been communicated for several years, since 2022.

I received Cubase 9 along with my Yamaha receiver. I paid for version 11 myself. Ed didn’t provide a license update—it was just a one-month trial version lacking the necessary features. If you provide Cubase 14 to other users in situations similar to mine, why don’t I deserve the same?

Hello, I used Cubase AI 9.5 on my old PC and wanted to use it on my new laptop. Sadly it doesn’t work on my Laptop, so I wanted to ask, if can be updated to the actual one without these problems. Have a nice week.

That is the Cubase LE 9 license and you now have the update for Cubase LE 15 in your account.

This is obviously the Cubase Elements 11 license and you do not get a free update to Cubase Elements 15 for this. You have to buy the update via the link provided by Ed.

You still mix the versions. LE is free and you got the update for free, Elements is paid software and you need to buy the update. Btw. the current release is 15, not 14, but you can still run 14 with the current licenses.

No one here gets a license for Elements for free.

Post a screenshot of your Activation Manager showing the licenses. Make sure you blur the mail id in the screenshot.

@Ed_Doll Why wasn’t I included in the latest batch of your replies?

Thank you

Braja

This screenshot shows that you have activated one Cubase LE license on Oct. 13 2024, so there is an active license available and a second even earlier, in 2022.

With the updated license provided by Ed you can install Cubase LE 15 now, the activated products are probably Cubase 12 or 13, activate it in the Activation Manager and use it.

There is also a Cubase Elements 11 license on a Soft-eLicenser and this is tied to a single computer, probably your Windows 7 machine. This can not be transferred to other computers, as the eLicenser system is shutdown.

The Cubase Elements 11 license is not updated for free, this requires that you buy the update. So Ed did exactly what is possible for your existing licenses, there is nothing wrong here.

I can’t call this help. They offer me to pay money for a product that I have already purchased. Are there any options without payment?

Hi,
please, read this article
https://www.steinberg.net/licensing/elicenser-end-of-service/

As others have pointed out:

  1. You can still use Cubase LE 15 with the free update provided by Ed based on your previous (free) license
  2. Your old Elements 11 license (the one you purchased) can not be activated on a new system (explanation in the link above). You would have to buy an update to Elements 15 in order to run this version again. It is what it is. On the plus side: Elements 15 doesn’t require an eLicenser anymore so it will probably work for decades to come. FYI, summer sales are around the corner.

If you’ve got further questions please open a separate thread or open a support ticket like Ed suggested before.

The product Ed suggested is only available for one month and doesn’t include the necessary tools. Why can’t you provide access to version 14, like other users in a similar situation?

You can not expect a long life update service witout update payment, that is simply not possible. You have to pay updates with all other software vendors, this is not a Steinberg issue.

No.

Ed did not suggest a product, he gave you an update for your Cubase LE license. If you downloaded and installed the latest release without a new Download Access Code you probably activated a trial license yourself.

Once again, Cubase Elements 15 is a paid release, no one gets this update for free. And btw. it is Cubase 15.

For me there is no further need to discuss and explain it here again, everything is said.

Thank you Ed!

Hi @braja , sorry, I just did not notice the post. You have a new Cubase AI for Steinberg Licensing license now.

I am sorry but this is not correct. There is no license registered with your Steinberg ID that is a trial or otherwise time-limited. Cubase LE 15 can be downloaded and activated with the already available license that has been used before anyway.
Now, please stop the discussion here as it is off-topic. I already mentioned that you would have to reach out to support directly but just noticed that you are from Russia. In that case we cannot offer any support due to the ongoing embargos, I am afraid.

Hi , seems I have the same problem, i have cubase AI with Soft-eLicenser and i cannot activate with steinberg activation manager . Could you please help me.. thanks a lot .

Hi @Yang_Wu , a new Cubase AI (15) license for Steinberg Licensing is registered with your account now. This one will show up in the Steinberg Download Assistant under “My products”.

Hello Ed_Doll, is it possible for me to upgrade my cubase AI 9.5 to a version that doesn’t have problems with the soft_eLicenser?

Greetings

Hi @DannyDan , a new Cubase AI (15) license for Steinberg Licensing is registered with your account now. This one will show up in the Steinberg Download Assistant under “My products”.
